Regency Park with the Baby Wipe technique!

During March our Flowerbug's Team has been focusing on using re-inkers.  I hadn't played with the 'baby wipe' technique for awhile.  I chose the Regency Park suite when creating this cute card:

It might not show up well here but the White greeting die-cut is 'caught' and held in place by the larger die & the outer two corners of flowers. These dies fit together perfectly!  *you can see the dies in the photo below; the bottom most label nestles into the largest one with flowers on two edges.

Here's the Sentimental Park bundle as well, with the greeting & die-cuts. This bundle was one of my first purchases from the Spring catalog and I've used it a lot!

The other bundle in this suite is the Petal Park bundle seen here. It includes the stamp set & coordinating flower punch. I used the solid flowers on the middle right for my baby wipe technique and added the outline flowers (top right) in Black.

  I had a die-cut dotted background piece (from Dots & Spots here) among my 'extra's and thought it would work well for my background.

What supplies do you need for the Baby Wipe technique?

  1. A baby wipe or two
  2. At least 2-3 colors of ink refills
  3. A stamp and card stock

Success tips for the 'Baby Wipe' technique:

  • Choose colors that work well together.  I tend to choose 3 of my favorites like yellows with pinks, blues with greens, purples with blues etc.
  • Pick a stamp with a solid image; lots of rubber.  An outline image will not show your colors well.
  • Fold the moist baby wipe into an ink pad; I use at least 4 layers.
  • Drop multiple drops of each color in each area. For example – 4 drops of yellow, move over a bit, 4 more drops of yellow etc.  Then fill with the second color in the same manner. Fill in any empty areas with the 3rd or last color.
  • When inking your image stamp it in your 'baby wipe' handmade ink pad multiple times, trying to keep it in the same place as much as possible. Moving the image around too much can muddy your colors.
  • Huff the image and stamp!

Here's the inside of my card; I added a few more of the multi-colored punched flowers.

My colors include Polished Pink, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody.

  • Unique Charming Day fun fold card with video tutorial

    I shared this cool fancy fold card on last week’s Live video.  It looks like an ordinary card at first glance…

    I colored the main floral image with a Wink of Stella and ink from my ink pads.  Watch the video to see how it’s done.

    I featured the Floral Charm DSP that’s discounted right now during the In Color promotion.  See it here. It’s almost $2 off.  My favorite thing about it is the color coordination. Each pattern has a soft, matching back side.

    I also used the Charming Day bundle that coordinates with the DSP.  See that here.

    Here’s how the card opens.  I’m calling it a double diagonal center fold card. The center stays in place but the outer triangles lift up and to the outside as shown below.

    I have a complete project sheet for you with measurements, directions, supplies and photos.  The video tutorial will help you understand how to assemble this card; see it below.  Click on the following link to print or download this project sheet: Download Double Diagonal Center fold cards

  • These pretty cards are the last of the Monochromatic Team swaps

    I’ve been sharing our Team swaps this week that all feature a Monochromatic theme. This means the colors should include hues of similar colors.

    First is a pretty and soothing card made by Jacki.

    She used the Prairie Grass stamp set seen here.  Her colors include Very Vanilla with Crumb Cake.  Her greeting is from the  stamp set seen here.

    I love how the grass image repeats itself on the Vanilla layer in the background.

    Measurements:

    • Crumb Cake 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ score at 4 1/4″, 3″ X 4 1/4″
    • Vanilla 4″ X 5 1/4″, 2 3/4″ X 4″

    ~~~
    Next is a pretty wedding or anniversary card made by Marla.
    She used the Lifetime of Love stamp set seen here and the coordinating dies seen here.  I love how these delicate dies inlay so perfectly.
    Her colors include Navy, Misty Moonlight, Crumb Cake & White. She also used a new embossing folder called Jolly Holly Hybrid seen here.  These leaves allow her to lift them a bit to add more dimension.
    The Designer paper is 2 5/8″ wide and is the Country Lace pack and is discounted and on the Last Chance list now.  See it here.
    ~~~

    And lastly is this soft & pretty card made by Paula.

    Her card features the blue tones of Blueberry Bushel with Azure Afternoon. Her stamp sets are Elements of Text seen here and Textured Notes seen here. The greeting is from the Label Me Grateful stamp set seen here.

    I hope you enjoyed seeing the beautiful Monochromatic swaps this week.  I have a super talented team!
