More incredible By the Bay card samples!

Yesterday I shared 5 gorgeous cards my team member Bobby made with the By the Bay suite. See the entire suite here.

She is our Artist of the Month on my Flowerbug's Team and chose the Seaside Bay bundle for her projects.  She is a very talented stamper and a fabulous photographer too!

This first card is unbelievable Pillar Pop-Up card and was cased from Rachel Tessman.

It's so cool!  This card truly shows off this suite and the stunning gold accents in the By the Bay designer paper.

Can you see the little DSP pillars in the photo below?  The entire upper panel is adhered to two little pillars and they fold flat for mailing too.  I had to make one myself and chose to use the Adorable Owls for my card.  You can see it here on my video.  Measurements too!

This next card is a Book Binding fold. Her card base is Balmy blue and that pretty shell designer paper is adhered to narrow White layers.

It also shows off the soft Balmy Blue variegated ribbon that's new in our Spring catalog.

When making a book binding fold card you will adhere the front left edge to the back so only the large layer on the left opens.  Tip: If adding ribbon you may want to wrap it behind before you secure the scored edge together.

Measurements:

  • Balmy Blue 4 1/4" X 11" scored at 4 1/2" & 5 1/2"
  • White 4 1/8" X 7/8" and 4 1/8" square
  • DSP 3/4" X 4" and 4" square

See the By the Bay 6 X 6" specialty designer paper here.  It's so beautiful I chose it for one of my January card kits to go.  I have just 3 left; see the kit or PDF here.

Next is a simple but super pretty card with just a square of the By the Bay designer paper set onto a layer of Gold Foil.  The nice thing about doing this is you can die-cut your elements from the center of the Gold foil and no one can tell!

Cards with mostly White draw your eye to the main element as you can see here.  She stamped her greeting on the White layer before texturing it with the Timeworn Type embossing folder seen here.  Pool Party is her accent color.

Measurements:

  • The DSP is 2 7/8" square and the gold foil is 3" square.
  • The white layer is 4" X 5 1/4" and Pool Party is 4 1/8" X 5 3/8"

Her next card is an easel card and it shows off the clam shell die in the Seaside Bay bundle.  It is scored and hinges open to reveal a pretty pearl gem inside.

She cased it from Julia Quinn.  That pretty clam shell and the designer paper layer is what holds the easel up.  So neat!

Measurements:

  • Balmy Blue 5 1/2" X 4 1/4"
  • Sahara Sand easel 5 1/4" X 8" scored at 4 and 6"
  • White – 2 pieces measuring 5 1/8" X 3 7/8"
  • DSP one at 5 X 3 3/4" and one at 5" X 1 1/2"

Next and last is an exquisite card featuring just Sahara Sand, foils and white.  Love the soothing colors here!

This pretty card was cased from Gail Ellis and shows off the textured die-cuts when done in foil.

Measurements:

  • White 5 1/4" X 4" and 5 1/4" X 2 3/4"
  • DSP squares 1 1/2"
  • Sahara Sand squares 1 5/8" squares & two strips for the torn edge on the shells area
  • two gold strips 1/2" X 5 1/4"

I hope you've enjoyed seeing the beautiful cards Bobby created to show off the Seaside Bay bundle. She sure did a fantastic job didn't she?

  • More Monochromatic swaps featuring flowers

I’m sharing more of my Team’s monochromatic swaps today. These pretty cards all feature flowers.

This first stunning card is made by Barb who used the Spotlight on Nature stamp set. I was shocked to see it on the Last Chance list and it’s already out of stock!

Joan is a master at coloring!  Look at the shadow effect she achieved on the flowers and leaves! It looks like it’s raised but it’s simply stamped and Blends marker was added all around the image.

The other stamps she used are Sentimental Framing and Textured Notes. The inks are Granny Apple Green & Memento Black. She added Holographic Resin Dots, a linen thread bow and Wink of Stella on the butterfly to finish it off.

She gave me measurements I can share with you too!

    • Lemon Lime Twist 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″
    • Granny Apple Green 3 1/2″ X 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
    • White 3 1/4″ X 5 1/2″, inside is 3″ X 5″, greeting is 3 1/4″ X 1″
    • Season of Elegance DSP 2 pieces at 3/4″ X 5 1/2″

Here’s a view of the card opened:

You’ve created a beautiful card Joan!

Next is a card made by Joan’s mom, Barb. It’s her first time swapping with us and she did a wonderful job!

Barb chose the Gallery Blooms stamp set. She stamped the flower in Night of Navy and used Wink of Stella to pull the color into the image. Very cool idea!

She used the Textured Notes dies (2nd & 3rd largest) for her blue layers of Night of Navy and Blueberry Bushel.

    Measurements:

    • Night of Navy card base 4 1/4″ X 11″ score at 5 1/2″
    • Blueberry Bushel 4 3/4″ X 3/4″, scrap for greeting
    • White 2 3/4″ X 4 1/2″ for die-cut, inside is 3 1/2″ X 4 3/4″

    Beautiful job Barb!

Next is a pretty card made by Candace featuring the pretty Charming Day bundle seen here.

Her colors include White, Soft Seafoam and Basic Gray.  She added color to the floral die-cut with Blends markers and then added Wink of Stella to all of the die-cuts.

The pretty leaf die-cuts also have Soft Seafoam Blends added. The texture is the Exposed Brick embossing folder seen here.   I just love the clean look of this pastel color with White.

Here’s the inside view.  Simply stamping the flower image in the same ink is a beautiful say to finish it.

I’ll be sharing our swap cards all week; stay tuned!

  • Beautiful Monochromatic swaps with 3D embossing folders

This week I’ll be sharing my Flowerbug’s Team swaps for August.  Our theme was monochromatic and they are all wonderful!

The two cards today are both made with 3D embossing folders. This first pretty card was made by Tracey.

Her colors include Petal Pink, Calpyso Coral and Cajun Craze. She used the Happy Hibiscus bundle. It was on the Last Chance list; but only the embossing folder & dies are left but they are discounted and they easily stand alone without the stamp set!  See them here.

She started with the Beautiful Bokeh DSP seen here and after texturing it added ink with sponging and the ‘Direct to Paper’ method. This is when you add ink by tapping or rubbing the ink pad directly onto the paper.  She blended Calypso Coral on the large flowers, Timid Tiger on the Medium ones. She finished by dragging White Craft ink across it all.

Here’s how she stamped the inside:

This next card was made by Lori. She used the beautiful Sunflower 3D embossing folder seen here.

This folder is out of stock right now.  But you can put your name on a list (on the link above) to be notified when it becomes available again.

Her colors include Daffodil Delight with Early Espresso.  The card base is Crushed Curry.

She sponged Daffodil Delight ink to the raised areas and it looked so much like Crushed Curry she used that for the card base. I love that she added an extra sunflower to the front to give it more dimension!  This one is fussy cut.

Her greeting is from the More Messages bundle seen here.

I’ll be sharing our swap cards all week; stay tuned!

  • How to use the Sunflower 3D folder on Designer Paper; with video

The Sunflower 3D embossing folder is so popular I featured it on my team card swap this month.  The theme was monochromatic.

What do you think?  Can you guess what DSP I used here?

It’s the Country Home DSP seen here.  Once I textured it I chose the debossed side (raised flowers are on the opposite side) to add ink to.

I first lightly rubbed Pecan Pie ink across the embossed surface. Then added a bit of Calypso Coral ink over that.  The effect is quite subtle but so pretty.

This gorgeous Sunflower 3D embossing folder seen here is out of stock right now.  It’s so popular this is the second time they ran out! But you can put your name on a list (on the link above) to be notified when it becomes available again.

The greeting is from the Label Me Grateful set and stamped on an Arches die-cut and layered on another die-cut.  My cardstock includes Pecan Pie, Basic Beige and Early Espresso.
