In the Country with the Spotlighting Technique & video; a great alternative to coloring

On last week's FB Live I played with the In the Country stamp set seen here showing a variety of ways to color (or not) these scenic images.

Today I'm showing the cards featuring the 'Spotlighting' technique.  This is a great alternative to coloring the entire image.

I used the Fabulous Frames dies for the oval die-cut. See them here.  I also used the Sending Support stamp set seen here.  Both this and the In the Country stamp set are free with any $50 Stampin' Up! purchase through February.

I stamped the image first in Black ink and then die-cut the oval layers.  I used the Wink of Stella and Classic ink to color.  I love using Wink to color because the images end up sparkly.

If you don't have a Wink of Stella yet; I highly recommend them.  They're a subtle way of adding shimmer or sparkle to your projects.  And as you can see, you can use it for coloring too! I show how in the video below.

Tip: when the fluid in the Wink of Stella runs out, add a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol inside the barrel.  You'll get quite a bit more use of it.

All of the layers are adhered down but the colored oval and greeting; they're popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I added a piece of Fancy Florals DSP to the card base.  I cut a piece at 4" X 5 1/4" and then cut it in half for two cards. Other measurements are shown below.

I love the effect this Spotlighting technique gives.  It's fun and unique and saves time too!

I'll share more In the Country cards this week.  Click on this link or below to watch the video tutorial. *Be sure to subscribe to my new YouTube channel.

  • Awesome Otters is perfect with the Simply Marbelous!

There are just 2 days left of Sale-a-Bration promotion and I had to share this sweet card my Flowerbug's team member Karen made for our recent swap. The theme was cards featuring animals & fun fold layout.

She used Balmy Blue, Misty Moonlight & Gray Granite along with the Hippo & Friends dies. She colored him in with Blends markers.

This card is a triangle pop up card.  The front of the card is scored diagonally across it so you can give it a twist to pop it up.  The inside greeting holds it up.

The Awesome Otters set is adorable; those critters are so cute!

You can see the Awesome Otters set here and the Simply Marbelous DSP here.  They're BOTH free with a $50 order through Monday only.  Then Sale-a-Bration ends! Don't miss out on the deals!!!

  • Rainbow of Happiness Easel card with video tutorial

The other card we made at my February card clubs was this bright rainbow easel card. We have so many wonderful rainbow themed products right now.

    Details:

    • The rainbows and small clouds are die-cut using the Rainbow dies (currently unavailable through March 28th).
    • The rainbows are cut from the Ombre 12 X 12" Specialty paper in the annual catalog (seen here).
    • The clouds are punched using the new Cloud punch from either the Simply Ombre DSP, the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP or the Supple Shimmer paper. *The cloud punch matched the Sunshine & Rainbow DSP perfectly!
    • The stamped images are from the Rainbow of Happiness & the Celebrating You stamp set; both in the 2022 Jan-June catalog
    • The DSP inside the card is the Sunshine & Rainbow paper from the Sale-a-Bration catalog; it's free with any $50 order.
    • They could add either raindrops from the Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials or the Artistry Blooms sequins.
    • The frame was made by cutting a rectangle from a 4" X 5 1/4" Basic White CS with the Stitched Rectangle dies.

Have you noticed this gorgeous glimmery specialty paper in the annual catalog?  It's perfect for rainbows & that touch of glitter.

You can see the glimmer better in this close up.

Did you know the Sunshine & Rainbows 6 X 6" DSP coordinates with our new Cloud punch?  The cloud punch is currently unavailable but it will be back after March 28th.

See the DSP here; it's so happy & bright.  Remember it's retiring after Monday; the last day of Sale-a-Bration.  It's free with any $50 order.

They could add greetings inside the easel if they wanted to.  We used Night of Navy ink for all greetings.

    Measurements:

    • Pool Party easel card base 4 1/4" X 11" scored at 3 3/4" & 5 1/2"
      Pool Party 4" X 5 1/4"
      White 4" X 5 1/4" for rectangle frame

  • Driving By meets Simply Marbelous for a retro style Birthday card

We made retro style birthday cards at my February card clubs.  Look at this:

It's perfect for a guy or even a young adult.  The Simply Marbelous designer series paper from our Sale-a-Bration catalog is absolutely amazing!  It does look a little psychedelic doesn't it?!

I covered the entire card front with it; no border at all.  I rarely do this but I wanted this unique & special paper to shine!  It has 6 different color combinations in it; all monochromatic too!  Everyone had a choice of their favorite color.

The birthday greeting is from the Slim Sayings stamp set seen here.  We stamped it in Versamark ink and heat embossed with Black embossing powder.

*There's a video to see how this card was created.  You can watch it here.

The car images were stamped with Black Memento ink on a Basic White Stitched rectangle die-cut and then colored in with our Stampin' Up! Blends markers.

I trimmed the balloon image off of the convertible so it could be added to any of the vehicles.  See the Driving By stamp set here; it's free with any $50 order through February.

The cute stitched banner is cut from more Simply Marbelous DSP using the Triangle dies.

After the card was assembled we added a finishing tough to the windows – a bit of Shimmery Crystal Effects for some shine.
