You’re a Peach fun fold swap card

I actually love to create swap cards.  There's something rewarding about creating multiples of the same cards.

How do swaps work?  I know many people are curious….  You create one design and make multiples of it; usually for as many of that card as there are people in the swap.  Swapping saves so much time and you get samples using products you don't have to buy. There are so many benefits of swapping but for most of us, the main reasons are it's fun and to get samples we didn't have to design.

I have gals in my Flowerbug's Team that join just so they can swap! Right now the JOIN+ offer is so great I hope you'll consider it if you are not already a Demonstrator.  The value is incredible!  If you have a wish list over $150 you really need to consider this!

I created the card below for a Flowerbug Team swap this month.  My gals can take part in our monthly swaps if they'd like to.  It's a great opportunity to get a variety of cards to use or share.

For this card I used the You're a Peach suite seen here.  It's on pages 60-61 in the Annual catalog.

The card base is Pale Papaya and I added Balmy Blue, Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral and White accents. The greeting die is from the Tasteful Labels dies seen here.  I layered it with Pale Papaya CS.

You might wonder how I achieved the 'blushing' peach image.  I inked the three peaches (all on one stamp) in Pale Papaya and before I stamped I sponged on a bit of Calypso Coral on the outer edges of each.

Here's the sequence of stamping the main image:

  1. Stamp the leaves image twice on the White CS using Pear Pizzazz ink.  I stamped off once first.
  2. Ink and stamp the peaches using the technique mentioned above.
  3. Add Balmy Blue ink all over using Blending Brushes.  Be sure to use a light hand and start off of the card stock.

Here's a look at the inside:

Measurements:

  • Pale Papaya card base 5 1/2" square, score at 4 1/4"
  • Balmy Blue 4 1/4" X 3 1/4"
  • Whisper White – 2 pieces.  Front is 4" X 3", inside is 4 1/2" X 3 1/2"
  • You're a Peach DSP 1" X 5 1/4"

  • More Monochromatic swaps featuring flowers

I’m sharing more of my Team’s monochromatic swaps today. These pretty cards all feature flowers.

This first stunning card is made by Barb who used the Spotlight on Nature stamp set. I was shocked to see it on the Last Chance list and it’s already out of stock!

Joan is a master at coloring!  Look at the shadow effect she achieved on the flowers and leaves! It looks like it’s raised but it’s simply stamped and Blends marker was added all around the image.

The other stamps she used are Sentimental Framing and Textured Notes. The inks are Granny Apple Green & Memento Black. She added Holographic Resin Dots, a linen thread bow and Wink of Stella on the butterfly to finish it off.

She gave me measurements I can share with you too!

    • Lemon Lime Twist 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″
    • Granny Apple Green 3 1/2″ X 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
    • White 3 1/4″ X 5 1/2″, inside is 3″ X 5″, greeting is 3 1/4″ X 1″
    • Season of Elegance DSP 2 pieces at 3/4″ X 5 1/2″

Here’s a view of the card opened:

You’ve created a beautiful card Joan!

Next is a card made by Joan’s mom, Barb. It’s her first time swapping with us and she did a wonderful job!

Barb chose the Gallery Blooms stamp set. She stamped the flower in Night of Navy and used Wink of Stella to pull the color into the image. Very cool idea!

She used the Textured Notes dies (2nd & 3rd largest) for her blue layers of Night of Navy and Blueberry Bushel.

    Measurements:

    • Night of Navy card base 4 1/4″ X 11″ score at 5 1/2″
    • Blueberry Bushel 4 3/4″ X 3/4″, scrap for greeting
    • White 2 3/4″ X 4 1/2″ for die-cut, inside is 3 1/2″ X 4 3/4″

    Beautiful job Barb!

Next is a pretty card made by Candace featuring the pretty Charming Day bundle seen here.

Her colors include White, Soft Seafoam and Basic Gray.  She added color to the floral die-cut with Blends markers and then added Wink of Stella to all of the die-cuts.

The pretty leaf die-cuts also have Soft Seafoam Blends added. The texture is the Exposed Brick embossing folder seen here.   I just love the clean look of this pastel color with White.

Here’s the inside view.  Simply stamping the flower image in the same ink is a beautiful say to finish it.

I’ll be sharing our swap cards all week; stay tuned!

  • Beautiful Monochromatic swaps with 3D embossing folders

This week I’ll be sharing my Flowerbug’s Team swaps for August.  Our theme was monochromatic and they are all wonderful!

The two cards today are both made with 3D embossing folders. This first pretty card was made by Tracey.

Her colors include Petal Pink, Calpyso Coral and Cajun Craze. She used the Happy Hibiscus bundle. It was on the Last Chance list; but only the embossing folder & dies are left but they are discounted and they easily stand alone without the stamp set!  See them here.

She started with the Beautiful Bokeh DSP seen here and after texturing it added ink with sponging and the ‘Direct to Paper’ method. This is when you add ink by tapping or rubbing the ink pad directly onto the paper.  She blended Calypso Coral on the large flowers, Timid Tiger on the Medium ones. She finished by dragging White Craft ink across it all.

Here’s how she stamped the inside:

This next card was made by Lori. She used the beautiful Sunflower 3D embossing folder seen here.

This folder is out of stock right now.  But you can put your name on a list (on the link above) to be notified when it becomes available again.

Her colors include Daffodil Delight with Early Espresso.  The card base is Crushed Curry.

She sponged Daffodil Delight ink to the raised areas and it looked so much like Crushed Curry she used that for the card base. I love that she added an extra sunflower to the front to give it more dimension!  This one is fussy cut.

Her greeting is from the More Messages bundle seen here.

I’ll be sharing our swap cards all week; stay tuned!

  • How to use the Sunflower 3D folder on Designer Paper; with video

The Sunflower 3D embossing folder is so popular I featured it on my team card swap this month.  The theme was monochromatic.

What do you think?  Can you guess what DSP I used here?

It’s the Country Home DSP seen here.  Once I textured it I chose the debossed side (raised flowers are on the opposite side) to add ink to.

I first lightly rubbed Pecan Pie ink across the embossed surface. Then added a bit of Calypso Coral ink over that.  The effect is quite subtle but so pretty.

This gorgeous Sunflower 3D embossing folder seen here is out of stock right now.  It’s so popular this is the second time they ran out! But you can put your name on a list (on the link above) to be notified when it becomes available again.

The greeting is from the Label Me Grateful set and stamped on an Arches die-cut and layered on another die-cut.  My cardstock includes Pecan Pie, Basic Beige and Early Espresso.
