See how the Josephs Coat Technique is done; with video & free project sheet

Here's another project made on last week's Live video; it's the Josephs Coat technique using the new, upcoming Leaf Collection stamp.

That greeting stamp & scalloped oval die-cut are from the new Unbounded Love bundle from the upcoming 2024 Annual Catalog. I showed how to do this technique in the video here.  I also have a free project sheet with directions.

Here are the steps:

  1. Sponge ink all over a neutral piece of card stock – Pretty Peacock, new Summer Splash and lastly Granny Apple Green.
  2. Wipe off any excess ink with a tissue to remove moisture.  Swipe with an embossing buddy.
  3. Ink your stamp in Versamark ink. Heat emboss with Clear embossing powder.
  4. Use a water-based ink pad like Memento Black and rub or tap the ink over it all.  This is called 'Direct to Paper'.
  5. With a damp tissue or paper towel, wipe off excess ink from the embossed area. It will not stay on the embossed area.
  6. Finish your card as you'd like.

I inked the stamp again in a few colors – Granny Apple Green & Summer Splash, and fussy cut some leaves out for accents. Dies used above include Something Fancy & Stylish Shapes.

The card below features an emboss resist technique.  Same colors but the steps are different.

  1. First I stamped using Versamark ink onto White card stock and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
  2. Then I added ink over the clear embossing; using Blending Brushes. Inks include: Summer Splash, Pretty Peacock and Granny Apple Green.  *This must be water-based ink!
  3. Use a damp tissue or paper towel to wipe off excess ink that will not stick to the embossed areas. Done!

The greeting is from the Irresistible Blooms stamp set (online exclusive) and the tags are from the Something Fancy dies (carrying over).

  • Sneak Peek of new products with a sketch for inspiration

On last week’s video I shared three cards featuring a new designer paper coming out in November. It’s called Brushed with Beauty.

My colors include Very Vanilla, Mossy Meadow & Calypso Coral. The stamp & dies bundle is called Words of Beauty and is part of the Brushed with Beauty suite. Demonstrators (& new team members) are able to order it early but you can see and order these new products on November 4th. They’re part of our Online Exclusives – new products released every other month.

This layout was inspired by a sketch. Every month my Flowerbug’s have a creative challenge involving sketches or a color combo. This will be our November sketch inspiration. Sketches are a fabulous start to creating a card or scrapbook page. And they’re just an inspiration. As you can see I did not use a circle but the die from the Label Me Grateful dies seen here. I also flipped the center rectangle on it’s side.

The Words of Beauty bundle will be a great option for greeting phrases. It includes two large sets of dies with the words ‘just’ and ‘because’ and then plenty of words to create your greeting. Plus the die I used with the word ‘because’ below is one of three in the package.

You’ll notice the new packaging in the photo below. All new stamps & dies will be in these envelopes. Also all new stamps will be clear photopolymer and not red rubber.

Here’s the free project sheet for this card; click here to print or download it. Did you know I have a category at the top of my blog where you can see lots of these? They’re great inspiration and include many fun fold cards.

I hope you’ll try this sketch layout. It’s a fun one! When you do, please share your project in my FB group here. We love seeing what everyone makes!

Below is the video for this card and two more – all featuring new & upcoming Stampin’ Up! products!

Today I have the last set of swaps my Flowerbug’s created for our Christmas card swaps this month. They’re super talented!

First is a beautiful card made by Tracey who used a variety of designer paper blocks & strips to create a focal point for her greeting.

Her designer paper is from the Online Exclusive pack called Elegant Pine Snowflakes. You can see it here. The leaf & berry die-cuts are from the Label Me Grateful dies seen here. One of my favorites!

Look at this gorgeous nativity scene Candy made for her swap! She used the A Child is Born set seen here.

She used blends markers to color the scene on Crumb Cake card stock. The die-cut is from the Branching Out dies, the embossing folder is the Peaceful Greenery folder. Just stunning! Just look at her beautiful coloring.

And lastly today is a pretty card made by Gwen who featured the incredible Traditions of Christmas suite seen here.

This beautiful designer paper is currently unavailable until November. The stunning greeting & die set called Traditional Labels is a classic. See it here.
