Paper Tags Joseph’s Coat technique with video tutorial

I played with the Paper Tags stamp set and the Irresistible Designs Specialty Paper for last week's video.  Here's my favorite project:

The colors include Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana and Gorgeous Grape in inks.  The card stock is Black, White, Daffodil and Highland Heather.

For the colored designer paper panel I started with a piece at 4" X 5" and blended the three inks on it diagonally. This Irresistible specialty paper seen here resists the ink where they printed the resist designs. Once you add ink, it reveals their pattern.  So cool!

After I blended the colors on I randomly cut the single panel into 5 pieces on the diagonal. I share how I did this in the video here. I adhered each panel one at a time starting in the corner. You may need to trim one of the pieces slightly to fit the card base.

For the inside of the card I stamped the greeting and added color to it with coordinating Blends markers.

Here's how you do the Joseph's Coat technique:

  1. Sponge or blend multiple colors onto your neutral cardstock.
  2. Swipe the embossing buddy over this layer; tap off excess powder.
  3. Ink the stamp image in Versamark ink; stamp onto the layer.
  4. Immediately heat emboss with Black embossing powder.

Once I had my tag, I trimmed it by hand (there are coordinating dies) and added a few extra pieces to lengthen the tag and add more layers. I finished it off with a bow.

  • Wishes all Around Christmas card with video & free project sheet

    I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday weekend. We sure did!  We spent it with our kids – playing games, making puzzles and of course enjoying wonderful food.

    ~~~
    Have you noticed the Wishes All Around bundle in the 2023 Holiday catalog?
    I've always loved wreaths.  In fact I used to collect them and put them up at Christmas time on a big wall in my dining room.
    I thought this Wishes All Around stamp bundle seen here had a wide variety of pretty stamps and wonderful dies.
    I heat embossed the tree wreath image in White embossing powder and die-cut it with the coordinating dies. I added it onto three cut panels from the Brushed Gold Cards & envelopes; each one cut at 1 5/8" X 4" and added to my Navy card base. These panels are textured with the Snowflake Sky 3D embossing folder.
    I love the fact that you can cut the Brushed Gold cards & envelopes into two card fronts; more bang for your buck!
    Below is a photo of all of the card swaps I made.  I truly love these Brushed Gold cards & envelopes. I've found them quite versatile and easy to use.
    Here's a photo of this sweet bundle. As you can see it has three die-cut wreaths, snowflakes, trees and stems/berries. All meant to coordinate with the stamp set.
    I made a second version in the video last week. Which do you prefer?
    Bow on top or on the bottom of the wreath?  Gold or white embossed greeting?
    Below is the video where I shared this pretty card.  Unfortunately this video has some blurry spots; I hope you can bear with me!
    We made this adorable cards at my November card clubs.  They could choose between Christmas & birthday. I love it when products are this versatile!
    This fun fold might look difficult but if you watch the video here you'll find it's quite easy.  It involves a bit of scoring and trimming. The diagonal square layer is separate from the card base.  The designer paper is the Merry, Bold & Bright seen here.  I'm featuring it in one of my pre-cut card kits to go this month; click here to see it.
  • Pretty Funfold card swaps by my talented Team!
    Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
    Today I'm sharing the last batch of swap cards made by my Flowerbug's Team. Our swap theme was to feature glitz, shine or glimmer.  They truly did their best to show off our beautiful specialty papers!
    Jacki made this card using the Night Divine dies seen here.  *Unfortunately it's retiring and available while supplies last.
    What a gorgeous card and the nativity die-cut is beautiful with the stars DSP background.  It's actually an easy fun fold too.  Unfortunately this pretty Shining Brightly designer paper is gone and out of stock. There are more products unavailable each day! The Last Chance list is brutal! *see all items retiring here.
    Her colors are simple but stunning – Night of Navy, Vanilla and Gold.
    Measurements:
    Next is a uniquely special New Year's card made by Paula.
    Her colors include Gray Granite, Silver & White. Like I said, it's uniquely beautiful and an easy fun fold too.
    Measurements & products used:
    • Gray Granite card base 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" score at 3" & 7 1/4"
