Floating Panel card with video – so cool but incredibly easy!

On a recent FB Live class we made Floating Panel cards like this one made with the Best Day stamp set from the January-April catalog. Click here to see the cute Best Day stamp set.

See how the card front is folded in half but the panel is straight?  There's a neat, easy way to do that by adding two little pieces of card stock.  Each strip is folded in half and positioned on both the top panel and the card base.  See the other photo below to understand it.  Or watch the video here.

I also used the Dandy Designs designer paper from our Sale-a-Bration promotion.  Sadly that is now over; it ended February 28th.

My colors on the card above are Black, Mango Melody & Polished Pink.  I used Blends markers to color the cat image.  I added Wink of Stella for some shimmer as well.

Floating Panel measurements:

  • card base – 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" score at 2 1/8" & 4 1/4"
  • DSP 2 pieces at 2" X 5 1/4"
  • White scalloped (Scalloped Contours die) die-cut is 2 1/2" X 3 3/4"
  • CS layer is 2 5/8" X 3 7/8"
  • two strips 1/2" X 1 3/4" for floating mechanism

I used the Best Day stamp set here; it's adorable with lots of birthday images and greetings.  It's in the Jan-June catalog and you can see it here.

You can see how the two folded strips are added to the front center fold below:

I stamped the inside with images from the Best Day stamp set, adding some colored rhinestones to help the card stay open and in place.  Honestly a die-cut or punch would work better than a rhinestone.

  • Green & Gold fun fold card with Changing Leaves bundle; & a free project sheet too!

Today I'm sharing the second card I made during last week's Live video. My projects focused on new Online Exclusive products.  There's lots of beautiful texture on this monochromatic card.

This card features multiple new Online Exclusive products released last week.

Did you know that Stampin' Up! releases a bunch of new online extras multiple times a year?  These items are not in any printed publication and are seen only online. Most people don't realize that they can be ordered online or at local events.

Print this flyer to see them all. Download July 24-OnlineExclusivesRelease

  • Changing Leaves Hybrid embossing folder technique; with free project sheet & video tutorial

I joined quite a few swaps featuring our newest group of Online Exclusives and this is one of the cards I made:

It features the Changing Leaves bundle seen here.  It includes a stamp & die bundle AND a coordinating hybrid embossing folder as well.

I used two different embossing techniques on this card. If you look closely at the die-cut leaf you'll see there's ink in the recessed part of the leaf.  That was done by adding ink to the embossing folder before I cut & embossed the leaves.  Please watch the video here to see how it's done.

My colors include the new Basic Beige and Mossy Meadow with White. I also ran a piece of Basic Beige CS through the clean folder and added ink with a blending brush afterwards.

In the two cards below you'll see that the Beige card stock looks different.  The left card was done by blending Mossy Meadow ink very lightly over the textured CS. The right card was done by adding ink to the embossing folder before I textured it. Two totally different results! Again; watch the video below to see how it's done.

For the greetings I used another new Online Exclusive stamp set called Everyday Greetings. It's a fabulous greeting set. See it here.

The oval die-cut is from a new set of dies called Greetings of the Season dies seen here. They're paired with a stamp set but are great on their own too.

Did you know that Online Exclusives simply mean that they're seen online and not in any printed publication? Anyone can order them! See them all here; there are tons of them!
