Control Freak’s Blog Hop; Favorite Colors theme!

Welcome to the January Blog Hop from our talented Control Freaks group! Our theme this month is to use our favorite Stampin' Up! color and make it monochromatic!

If you just stopped in from Wendy's blog I'm sure you enjoyed her projects. She is super creative!

I haven't joined a blog hop in awhile and I've missed it! This color theme was perfect for me as my Flowerbug's Team swapped monochromatic cards last week. I've been sharing them here all week long.

My first card features a new stamp set called Crane of Fortune.

I chose to feature Misty Moonlight with Night of Navy & White. The Crane of Fortune stamp set is new in our Stampin' Up! January-June catalog. It's a Distinktive stamp set which means you get multiple hues of color with one inking. These are my favorite type of stamps. Look how pretty the images are in one color and so easy too!

After I stamped the crane I textured it with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.

This card is a very simple fun fold. Here are the measurements:

Score your 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" card base at 2 1/8" & 4 1/4"
Misty Moonlight layer 1 7/8" X 5 1/4"
White layers are 3 1/4" X 4 1/2"
Navy layer is 3 1/2" X 4 3/4"

I stamped some of the dragonflies on the front layer of Misty Moonlight. I used White Craft ink for a soft, subtle effect. As you can see I made quite a few of them for our Team swap!

Next is a pretty card in Soft Succulent & White.

I used the new Artfully Layered stamp set along with the Stitched Rectangle dies. This technique is called Triple Time Stamping.

To achieve this layered effect I stamped all three of the White layers at the same time. Then you adhere each piece to a Soft Succulent layer and put the pieces back together; almost like a puzzle. It's a great way to create quick, eye catching cards.

Measurements:

Soft Succulent – 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" card base, 4 1/8" X 2 7/8" & 3" X 1 5/8"
White – 5 1/4" X 4", 4" X 2 5/8" & 2 3/4" X 1 3/8"

Modern Christmas Triple-Z card with video & free project sheet

I shared this super neat card on last week’s video. I love this fold! It looks like work but it’s so easy!

Isn’t it fabulous?! I found several others online and had to try it. I chose to feature the Modern Christmas suite seen here.

The scored lines to create this fold are simply 1″ & 3″ for both the card base and the 3 strips. Watch the video below to see how it’s put together.

The main image of trees is stamped on the die-cut from Branching Out. See these dies here; they coordinate with the stamp set but stand alone too. The greeting is from the Traditional Labels bundle seen here. I cut a second die-cut in Gold and split it apart across the middle so it shows.

The trees & greetings are from the Ornamental Christmas bundle seen here. I love the playful style of the stamp set.

The card bekiw is the card I made during the video. I changed it up a bit.

The beautiful gold & black paper (and the above trees DSP) is from the Modern Christmas DSP seen here. It’s so elegant and fits with the star die-cut from the Modern Christmas bundle quite well. The circle die-cut is from the Spotlight on Nature dies seen here.

I wanted to share two more of my favorite kits from our Kit Collection seen here.

First is a thank you kit called ‘Thank You Kindly’. It’s an elegant set of cards that are both special & easy to make.

They’re mostly white with gold foil accents & that stunning black pre-printed greeting. This is a non-stamping kit. It’s currently in low inventory so it will likely sell out soon. It’s just $14 and can be seen here.

Next is the gorgeous Harvest Home Garland that can also be made into a wreath. It would be great for your Thanksgiving table or used as a wreath.

It took me about 1 1/2 hours to make mine. I even added some sponging/blending to the paper leaves (which wasn’t in the directions. It have everything you need except hot glue – recommended to attach the leaves to the rope. It’s so pretty and I love the non-traditional colors that still have an autumn look. Each month Stampin’ Up! releases 2 new kits in our Kit Collection online. I’ll share both here with you. I expect these to sell out quickly. They will be re-ordered but then you have to wait!

First is the Adventure Awaits kit. Retro cards with fun retro vehicles! It’s always great to have cards on hand for the guys too right?
