Baby Wipe technique and the easiest Shaker Card ever! Tips for success & Video Tutorial

This card was cased from my good friend Susie Wood; creating comes naturally to her. She's fast and super talented. See her cute card here.

I used the Tropical Leaf bundle in the Online Exclusives section of our online store. I also wanted to feature the baby wipe technique.

The colors include Parakeet Party, Bermuda Bay and a tiny bit of Granny Apple Green. The designer paper inside the clear envelope is Pretty Prints. Here's how I created the clear envelope shaker:

My Pretty Prints designer paper layer is 5 1/4" X 4" and our clear envelopes are about 1/2" larger. For the shaker elements to stay on the front side of the envelope it has to be tight and smaller. So I added tear & tape to the back edge and folded the extra over tightly. Now, insert your shaker elements on the front pocket and fold down the end flap. Wallah! You have a shaker card front!

It includes some of my favorite colors – Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral and Evening Evergreen.

The CS layers on the front are added on top of this shaker element so you still get the feel of a real card; not all slippery. Watch the video here or below to see how it's done. It's the 2nd project of 3.

Now to create the baby wipe leaves I made my own ink pad with a folded baby wipe.

Tips for success of the baby wipe technique:

Fold a baby wipe into a thick layer; at least 4 layers thick. Make your 'pad' as large as your largest stamp image. Place it on a plate.
Drop multiple drops of each color of ink refill onto the baby wipe, leaving room between colors for another color.
I recommend at least 2 colors and up to 4 at the most.
Choosing colors? Find complimentary colors in similar shades – blues/greens, yellows/oranges, oranges/pinks etc.
Choosing stamps? Solid images work best; outline images will not show off your colors well.
Ink your stamp in the new colored pad by tapping up and down in the same approximate place. Traveling while inking may muddy your colors.
Huff on the image and stamp.
Depending on how much ink you added you can use your new 'ink pad' multiple times. Add more ink drops as needed.

Witty-Cisms Fun-Fold card

The Witty-Cisms stamp set is a great all occasions set with fun images and cute greetings to match. See it here. I created this cute card for a recent online card swap.

It's a fun fold card with a double opening. The Real Red flap is scored and the scored edge is adhered under the inside White layer. The Granny Apple Green main card is standard size but 1" is cut off the right edge to reveal the White inside. The new Coastal Weave embossing folder was used on the front. This embossing folder is the one I'm giving to all online orders over $65 in January.

Sometimes with this type of fold I add the designer paper to the inside right edge so it shows from the front. This time I added it to the very front along with a stitched scalloped edge piece die-cut with the Stitched Be Mine dies seen here.

Here are the measurements:
- Granny Apple Green main card 7 1/2" X 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4".
- White inside 4" X 5 1/4"
- Real Red 4" X 2 1/2"
- Black 2 1/4" X 3 1/4"

And more details:
- I added a butterfly die-cut from the upcoming Nature's Thoughts dies. They'll be available in February in the Coordination Product Release.
- I stamped the main image three times; once on the White punch and again on Real Red for the strawberry and again on scraps of Green. These are cut out and popped up on the main image.
- White label is the new Label Me Lovely punch seen here. I love this new punch! A 1 3/4" circle punch fits inside it for layering. And oval shapes do as well!

Honey Bee with Golden Honey Designer Paper

I know some people do not like yellow but I always have. When I was young I chose to a yellow and orange them for my bedroom! (The walls were yellow and the only orange were in accents so it wasn't too garish!)

When yellow is paired with Black and White it's a happy and striking color combination in my opinion!

Here I used Daffodil Delight with the pretty Golden Honey Designer series paper. It's one of the free choices during our Sale-a-Bration promotion. I was thrilled to see another black and white designer paper in the offering this year! You can pair it with just about any color! Fun Latch Fold card with Music From the Heart

I had to use my friend Dawn Olchefske's new stamp set for January club. It's the set she designed for her million dollars in sales achievement! It's a fabulous music themed set called Music From the Heart. Look!

Look at this fun latch fold card!

The Classic Label punch is perfect to create the 'latch' for this card closure. We did have to widen the opening a bit by punching off to the side an extra 1/4" on each side as I wanted a larger front layer than the punch allows for. If you watch the video below you'll see what I am referring to.

I decided to offer a choice of card themes for my gals; Valentines, Anniversary and Birthday. I used the Heart to Heart set for the Valentine's greeting. This pretty foiled paper is called From the Heart specialty designer paper. You can see it here.

Did you know that you can 'play or stamp' Happy Birthday with the individual notes in this set? Isn't that the best idea ever?! Although creating a 'guitar' from two stamps in this set is even more clever! If you have a musical person in your life you need this set!
