Have you ever done the baby swipe technique?  It's so fun; playing with baby wipes and ink refills is a bit addictive!

I made this card for our March Team swap; the theme was to use a technique involving ink refills.

My colors include Daffodil Delight, Polished Pink and Black.

Other products used:

Can you spot the shimmer?  I used the Pearlescent paper from the Annual Catalog.  See it here.

It was the perfect sheen for this technique as the moist ink did not absorb quickly like it might for regular card stock. Glossy paper would also work well.

After I added the color, I let it dry for an hour or so.  Then I textured it with one of the embossing folders in the 3D Basics pack seen here.  These are currently out of stock but they'll be back in May.

Below you can see the difference in my cards; especially the colors. One is soft and subtle and the other more vibrant.  This happens as you work with your baby wipe; the first few swipes are bold and the next few are much softer.

Tips for success:

  • Fold and roll your baby wipe in a tube.  Hold it tightly and add a few drops of ink refills.
  • Add each color separately in a row.  I tend to add enough for about 1/2" of surface.
  • Start swiping off your paper and then onto it.  You can do straight swipes or get creative and add curves or swirls. Let dry.
  • Shimmery, pearlescent or glossy works best. But you can do it on regular card stock too.
  • I suggest you use light to medium colors.

Notice the colors of the butterflies? I colored the Brass Butterflies with a Polished Pink blends marker for the left card.  I wasn't sure I liked it or not so left them uncolored for my swap cards.

Watch the video here or click on the image below to see this technique. It's the last technique I share in the video.

  • Butterfly Bouquet Fun Fold cards with video!

I truly love the new Butterfly Brilliance products seen here.  They are so easy AND fun to play with.  I made three special fun fold cards on my FB live yesterday.  Scroll down to see the video below:

This first card makes the most of this beautiful Butterfly Bijou designer paper!  Use the side strips leftover after you die-cut the 6 butterflies from the designer paper.  So cool to make use of the pretty edges!

Below you can see how it opens as well as the measurements to make more!

Next is a fun latch card using the Classic Label punch.

I created my own designer paper by stamping the butterflies on Black CS using White Craft ink.  Easy and quick!  Watch the video below to catch the tips on this fun card.

I made my own butterfly paper by stamping the butterflies on Black CS using White Craft ink.  So easy and pretty too.

Watch the video below to catch the tips on making these fun latch cards.

Lastly is a double point fold card.  The two pieces of Designer paper are 2 1/2" X 4" scored 1/2" on the long side.  You need two pieces to attach under the White CS layer. Again, watch the video below to get the details.

I shared how I made that striking solid colored butterfly in the video.  I just love these products!  See them here.

I hope you watch the video below where I share how to make each of these neat cards!

  • Butterfly Bouquet & the Origami Window Fold

Here's another favorite project I've made with the new Butterfly Bouquet products.  Are you a fan of butterflies?

I call this unique fold the Origami Window.  It's done by folding a 4 X 4" piece of designer paper a few times.  See details here or watch my video here.

The colors are Highland Heather and Pool Party. See the neat texture on the purple CS strip?  That's one of the dies in the Butterfly Wings dies!  You can see them here:

That pretty texture on the inside White square is from the Meadow Moments pair of embossing folders seen here.  They fit in your die-cutting machine but they were made narrow enough to fit in the new Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine too!
