Baby ‘Swipe’ Technique; two awesome examples!

Our Flowerbug's March swap theme was to use a technique featuring an ink refill.  The projects were incredible!

Today I'm featuring two cards using a technique called 'Baby Swipe'.  What is it?  It's where you roll up a baby wipe and drop ink refill liquid on the edge and use it to swipe across your paper.  Super fun to try.

Candace chose to use the Irresistible Blooms bundle and the pretty Naturally Gilded specialty paper seen here.  These items are on the Online Exclusives site and available for a limited time.

Her colors include Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam and Flirty Flamingo.  This specialty DSP works wonderfully for this because the surface is glossy. Once you're done adding ink use a tissue or soft cloth to wipe away the excess ink.  It will not adhere to the foil areas.

She used Copper embossing powder on her flower, leaves and greeting.  The texture is from the new Basics 3D embossing folder pack.  These are currently out of stock but will be back in May or earlier.

Next is a gorgeous scenic card made by Brenda. She also chose to use one of the new Online Exclusive products; the Rhino Ready bundle.

She used the same embossing folder on the Cajun Craze layer and die-cut a window using the Diorama dies seen here.  I think her scene is stunning!

I believe her colors are Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight and Petal Pink for her sunset/baby swipe technique.

Those trees and rhino dies are all from the Rhino Ready bundle seen here.

Below I demonstrate the baby 'wipe' technique. Click here or on the photo below to watch.

  • Morning Star

    Have you seen this pretty stamp set yet?  It's called Morning Star (seen here) and is one of Stampin' Up!'s distinktive type of stamps. This means you can get multiple hues of color with just one inking.  It's amazing!

    It is retiring next week so if you'd like it, get it now! Here's a few cards I created when playing with it.  I think this set has been a bit of a sleeper; lost among the many favorite in the 2020 January-June catalog.

    Here I used Old Olive and Gorgeous Grape; one of my favorite green and purple combos.  Because this stamp set is photopolymer you can easily stamp the images just where you want them, placing them perfectly.

    Here are the measurements and supplies:

    • Old Olive 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" scored at 2 1/8" and 4 1/4"
    • Regals designer paper 5 1/4" X 1 7/8"
    • Gorgeous Grape 4 3/4" X 3 1/2"
    • White 4 1/2" X 3 3/8"
    • Label Me Fancy Punch, Grape striped ribbon, dimensionals, mini glue dots

    Here's another simple card made with this pretty stamp set this time in green & blue:

    I chose to use Pear Pizzazz with Night of Navy here.  This is our Neutrals designer paper pack and it is already out of stock.  It was on the Last Chance list seen here.  I'll miss these pretty patterns although we are getting new packs of 6" designer paper in the upcoming catalog.

    Measurements:

    • Pear Pizzazz 5 1/2" X 8 1/2"
    • Navy designer paper 5 1/4" X 2"
    • White – 5 1/4" strip for the Ornate Style die-cut
    • White 3 1/4" X 2 1/2"
    • Navy 3 1/2" X 3"
    • Ornate Style dies, Olive/Terracotta Tile 1/4" ribbon, Noble Peacock rhinestones

  • Spring Punched Banner; cute home decor piece!

    To all of our Veterans; thank you for your service!  I wish you all a safe and happy Memorial Day!

    ~~~
    I haven't shared this project yet; it was the bonus project many of my gals received in their Spring Retreat package.   It's made with the Pleased as Punch designer paper; it was free during Sale-a-Bration earlier this year.
    To create the banners I first cut a piece of card stock 4 1/4" long X 3 1/2" wide.  Then I made a mark at the center of the short end and cut from that mark to the opposite corner.  Then I had my template!
    I added lots and lots of punched pieces!  I used the Umbrella punch, the Tulips punch, Daisy, Leaf, Butterfly Duo, the Small Bloom punch and the Heart Punch pack.  A few of the banners are textured too.  It would be fun to hang this in your craft room or on a window .
    This is the last bunch of Fun Fold cards this week; each one has been made by my talented Flowerbug's Team.
    Sue made this pretty and unique card using the Positive Thought stamp set.
    She is super creative and loves to create her own ideas.  Look at this unique card!
    She used the Positive Thoughts stamp set and the Cross of Hope dies (on sale right now for just $10.80; they were $27.00!)
    Next is Karen's pretty card featuring the Magnolia Blooms stamp set and the Magnolia Lane designer paper.  This pretty paper is also on sale; at $8.05 right now while supplies last here.  She colored the flower in with the Petal Pink blends markers.
    Candy made this beautiful card, also with the Positive thoughts stamp set and coordinating Nature's Thoughts dies.
    That gorgeous rectangle die-cut is from the Ornate Layers dies here.  They're amazing!!!  Her colors are Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake and a splash of Coastal Cabana.  Here's the inside view:
    • Crumb Cake pieces are 1 7/8" X 5 1/4"
    Mary made this pretty card using the Free as a Bird stamp set and the Bird Ballad designer paper.
    She colored the birds with Blends markers; so soft and pretty!
