2 more great card ideas with the Basic Border dies!

Before you get to the projects today I want to let everyone know about the current shipping delays. Stampin' Up! had their highest sales day ever on April 4th – by almost 20 times the average!  Wow!  They are quite behind and have added extra staff and longer hours to get caught up.  So if you're wondering where your order is, it's coming….it will just be about 8-10 days longer than normal.

This week I'm sharing our April card swaps from my Flowerbug's team. It's so fun to see what they make; everyone has their own unique style.  I LOVE swapping with them!

Annette chose the Beside Me stamp set for her card. She is a master at coloring and sponging.

Her colors include Blueberry Bushel, Basic White & Black. The Blueberry Bushel layer is textured with the Timeworn Type folder; the greeting die-cut is from the Stylish Shapes dies.

She cut two curves for her card; one with the Basic White layer and another with a Black layer.  She colored the image in with Blends markers.

Next is a neat card made by Karen who also used the Basic Border dies seen here.

She used the die to cut off the edge of her card and then used that second piece to create a 'vertical window' for her By the Bay specialty designer paper. This pretty paper is discounted on the Last Chance List.  See it here.

Her greeting and die-cut layers are from the Something Fancy bundle in the Spring catalog.  It will be in the new Annual catalog but no longer as a bundle at 10% off.

See the Basic Border dies here:  I love these dies; they're so versatile.  Luckily they are carrying over into the new Annual catalog.

  • 2 card ideas with Cradled in Love – a sweet set that’s free during Sale-a-Bration

One of the free stamp set choices in the Sale-a-Bration catalog is the Cradled in Love set.  A sweet group of stamps perfect for baby cards.  See this stamp set here.

Here's a quick card I created for my Open House boards:

My colors include Flirty Flamingo, White & Smoky Slate.  That large die-cut is from our new Perennial Postage dies seen here.

I paired it with the new Most Adored specialty designer paper – another free option during Sale-a-Bration this year. I added a 2" wide strip under the main element diagonally.

Both the stamp set and paper are available through February or while supplies last.  See this pretty paper here.  It's filled with gold foil designs on one side and Flirty Flamingo & Real Red on the other.

This photo does not show it well at all.  The colors are rich and gorgeous!

Below is a super cute swap card I received from my friend Amy Storrie.

She used the Lighter Than Air designer paper, Highland Heather, Lemon Lolly, Gray and White. That adorable scalloped border from the Basic Borders dies adds so much!  I just love it!

  • Softly Sophisticated fun-fold card with free project sheet to save & download

Here's the other fun fold card I shared on last week's Live video.  See the other one here.

I chose to feature the new Softly Sophisticated bundle from our 2024 Sale-a-Bration catalog.

See this pretty bundle here. Both the stamp set & embossing folder are free with any $100 purchase through February.

It might not look like a fun fold card, but the front main layers open instead of the entire card like this:

The colors include Bubble Bath, White and Lost Lagoon.  During my video I shared another one with Boho Blue instead.  It all depends on which sheet of the beautiful Flight & Airy designer paper you choose!

Did you wonder which dies I used on the designer paper and the greeting label?  They're the Thoughtful Expressions dies – one of my new favorites.  See them here.

See this pretty Flight & Airy designer paper here.  It's free with any $50 purchase through February; while supplies last.  Don't delay if you want it! I suspect this will be one of the firsts to sell out….

I love Sale-a-Bration where you can earn free products!  See it all here.

  • A unique fun-fold card with Thoughtful Moments Hybrid embossing folder tips with video & free project sheet

For last week's video I highlighted the Thoughtful Moments Hybrid embossing folder.  Once I used it I was hooked!  It's fast & easy!  I hope you watch the video here or below; you'll be amazed!

The cards today are both unique fun folds that can easily include a gift card option.

This card features Misty Moonlight, White & Fresh Freesia. The pretty paper is the Flight & Airy designer paper from our Sale-a-Bration catalog.  It's free with a $50 order.  See it here.

Here's how the card opens. See the gift card inserted into the left side pocket?  It's so easy to make – a simple cut on the front layer up to the score line. Then adhere the outer and lower sides to form a pocket.

I cased this card from my friend Susie Wood; she is a master designer of fun fold cards.  See here blog here; she usually posts measurements and great directions.

Here's her original card she sent me:

I lover her style so much! She used the Poetic Expressions designer paper and the gorgeous Thoughtful Expressions bundle; both from the 2024 Spring catalog.

Notice I changed the side I cut the gift card on; see the difference in the two cards below?  I wanted to see how it worked and it is just fine either way.

I used the new brayer to add ink to the folder, added the large die, then white card stock before I ran it through my Cut & Emboss machine. I got a nice handful of inked and embossed greetings! It's so very cool; I hope you watch the video!!

This Thoughtful Moments Hybrid embossing folder comes with a set of dies too.  See it here.

I made the pretty card below during the video.

My colors include Pebbled Path, White & Petal Pink.  The pretty papers are from the Softly Stippled designer paper seen here, also in the 2024 Sale-a-Bration catalog.  It's free with any $50 purchase from Stampin' Up! through  February; or while supplies last.

The floral paper I used is originally white with Pebbled Path; I added Petal Pink ink to the flowers with a sponge dauber.

Note the layered scalloped labels under the double-layered greeting.  These are from the Thoughtful Expressions dies seen here.  They're a gorgeous set of dies you will want to consider. Originally I did not get the coordinating stamp set, but I did order it now because I've seen so many beautiful samples using it.  We're all enablers!

Below is a sample of the many ways you can ink the greetings.  I cannot say how much I love this folder & dies bundle!

Details on these die-cuts seen above:

    • The top two in bold Pebbled Path were embossed and cut from White paper. After I cut and embossed them I rolled the inked brayer over them very, very lightly. *see video!
    • Celebrate & Thank you with a thin inking were done by inking the folder with the brayer, adding the die and White card stock, then running it through the Cut & Emboss machine. *it cuts and inks at the same time; with one pass!
    • The Love You was done with both of the above techniques. Pebbled Path inside the folder and afterwards I brayered Petal Pink over the raised area.

Below is the video you can watch to see these techniques using this amazing Hybrid embossing folder in action.  Don't forget to follow me on YouTube!
