You’re a Peach fun fold swap card

I actually love to create swap cards.  There's something rewarding about creating multiples of the same cards.

How do swaps work?  I know many people are curious….  You create one design and make multiples of it; usually for as many of that card as there are people in the swap.  Swapping saves so much time and you get samples using products you don't have to buy. There are so many benefits of swapping but for most of us, the main reasons are it's fun and to get samples we didn't have to design.

I have gals in my Flowerbug's Team that join just so they can swap! Right now the JOIN+ offer is so great I hope you'll consider it if you are not already a Demonstrator.  The value is incredible!  If you have a wish list over $150 you really need to consider this!

I created the card below for a Flowerbug Team swap this month.  My gals can take part in our monthly swaps if they'd like to.  It's a great opportunity to get a variety of cards to use or share.

For this card I used the You're a Peach suite seen here.  It's on pages 60-61 in the Annual catalog.

The card base is Pale Papaya and I added Balmy Blue, Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral and White accents. The greeting die is from the Tasteful Labels dies seen here.  I layered it with Pale Papaya CS.

You might wonder how I achieved the 'blushing' peach image.  I inked the three peaches (all on one stamp) in Pale Papaya and before I stamped I sponged on a bit of Calypso Coral on the outer edges of each.

Here's the sequence of stamping the main image:

  1. Stamp the leaves image twice on the White CS using Pear Pizzazz ink.  I stamped off once first.
  2. Ink and stamp the peaches using the technique mentioned above.
  3. Add Balmy Blue ink all over using Blending Brushes.  Be sure to use a light hand and start off of the card stock.

Here's a look at the inside:

Measurements:

  • Pale Papaya card base 5 1/2" square, score at 4 1/4"
  • Balmy Blue 4 1/4" X 3 1/4"
  • Whisper White – 2 pieces.  Front is 4" X 3", inside is 4 1/2" X 3 1/2"
  • You're a Peach DSP 1" X 5 1/4"

  • Simple & fun card sketch with Honeybee Home

Do you ever use card sketches to get inspired?  I love them!  I find most of them on Pinterest.

We use card sketches & color combos on my Flowerbug's Team group for challenges & inspiration.  It's so fun to see the different projects everyone comes up with. This is the sketch we're using now:

I used it as inspiration to create this card with the Honeybee Home bundle and the Simply Marbelous designer series paper.

It's such an easy sketch to use.  Some are using card stock, others designer paper and one used ribbon!

My card is Basic Bray with Bumblebee accents.  Gray & yellow are beautiful together.  In fact one of my bathrooms has these colors!

The Simply Marbelous designer paper was my color inspiration.  This 6 X 6" DSP is free with a $50 Stampin' Up! order through the month of February; or while supplies last.  See it here.

On the video I share my tips on placing these 1/4" strips.  It's a little tricky but entirely doable!

The greeting and flower die are placed on a circle die-cut from the Beautiful Shapes dies seen here.

See this Honeybee Home bundle here.  The stamp set has pretty images & greetings and the dies work great as silhouettes!

  • An easy Whitewashing Technique with our Retiring In Colors

I had time to play with the Whitewashing technique & our beautiful Calming Camellia stamp set.

This first card features my top favorite color among the retiring 2020-22 In Colors; Misty Moonlight.  I hope it returns someday!

I decided to cut the pieces down to fit and layer on one 8 1/2" X 11" piece of Basic White CS. I love saving card stock this way.

    The In Color pieces measure 3 3/8" X 4 1/2" and the layering White is 3 1/2" X 4 5/8".

How did I do the Whitewashing Technique?  I use our White Craft ink pad and a water painter.  I added a few drops of the White Craft ink refill to the inside of the ink pad and added water from the brush.  Swirl it around a bit and start painting.  You don't need much if you like it soft; I prefer it pretty diluted.

You can see a demonstration in this video; it's the second project.

Heads up!! These 2020-22 In Color will retire at the end of March.  If you have the ink pads, make sure you have the ink refills and grab extra card stock or Designer Paper too!  See all of this color line here.

***Once the retired list comes out these tend to sell out FAST!

Here's my other favorite of these In Colors; Just Jade.  I love this pretty, medium toned green.  It fits so beautifully with other colors!

This stamp set is a 'distinktive' set which means it gives multiple hues of color with one inking.  Love these so much!

Did you notice that these cards are also monochromatic?  I cannot get enough of a single color with a neutral. This technique truly shows off our gorgeous colors!

The Calming Camellia stamp set is free during Sale-a-Bration with a $300 order.  So if you have a big wishlist you can get this free along with $36 in host rewards AND 6 additional Sale-a-Bration choices too! Click here to see it.
