String Art Technique; fun, easy & the results are a big WOW!

I shared the String Art technique on last week's Live video.  It's been years since I tried it and it brought back how much fun it is!

That cool swirly, colorful image is made with a length of twine, ink refills and a phone book.  Yes; a phone book!  Any book will do but I a phone book is okay to get inky.

And another neat thing about this technique is you get two finished panels from one technique!

You might notice the card on the right has thicker lines.  I believe that piece was on the bottom and had more moisture on it.

I used Bermuda Bay and Parakeet Party ink refills for this technique, along with about 14" of baker's twine. After the piece was created I let it dry and textured it with an embossing folder.

*Bermuda Bay card stock, ink pad and refill are already sold out.  Products can go so fast on the Last Chance list!

Other products used: 2022-24 In Color dots seen here (Just $4; reduced by 50%!), the Quatrefoil embossing folder, Butterfly Kisses 6 X 6" DSP, 2022-24 In Color Baker's Twine pack.

You really need to watch this technique in action.  It's so much easier than to try to explain it.

Watch the video here or click on the image below to see this special technique. It's the third project in the video.

  • Matchbook Cards on tonight’s FB Live! An easy fun fold showing off your DSP

We made these neat fun fold 'matchbook' cards on Facebook Live last week.  They're so neat and really show off your DSP.

Does it remind you of the old fashioned books of matches?  See how it tucks in to the bottom flap?

I am featuring the Flowering Tulips stamp set & Flowering Fields designer series paper here.  It's so pretty and spring-like.

The Live video is at 7:30 pm CT here on my Facebook page. If you aren't following me yet, be sure to do that so you don't miss the 6 videos I do each month.

The 2nd & 4th Monday night videos are 'Stamp with Me' videos where I encourage you to prep your pieces and create right along with me. I share the measurements & supplies needed a day or two ahead of time on my FB page here. Of course you can choose to watch first and make yours later too.

Here's a photo of them laying flat.  My colors include Pool Party, Poppy Parade, Old Olive on the left card.  The card on the right is Fresh Freesia, Rich Razzleberry & Shaded Spruce.

The dies for the greetings are the Layering Circles, Tasteful Labels and Beautiful Shapes dies.

    Measurements:

    • Card base 4 1/4" X 6 1/2" scored at 5 1/2"
    • DSP 3 3/4" X 5 3/4" scored at 4 5/8", 3/4" X 4" lower strip
    • CS layer 4" X 5"
    • White inside 3 3/4" X 4 1/2"

Share your version on this link by April 10th to get in on Prize Patrol.

  • Rainbow of Happiness in Black & White with a ‘pop’ of color!

I saw a similar card using the Rainbow of Happiness that was in Black & pink and I knew it would be perfect for my Flowerbug's Team swap this month.  The theme was Black & White with a 'pop' of color.

I chose to use Magenta Madness.  It's retiring this month and available here while supplies last.

I stamped the three rainbows in Black Memento ink using my Stamparatus. Making multiple cards with the Stamparatus is THE BEST WAY!  There's no guessing with stamp placement.

    Details:

    • The stamps (hearts, rainbows & greeting) and cloud die-cuts are all from the Rainbow of Happiness bundle seen here.
    • I stamped 'thank you' on scraps of Magenta Madness and punched it out with our Double Oval punch for the rainbow center.
    • The designer paper in Black & White is from the All Together 6 X 6" pack seen here.
    • The gems are the 2021-23 In Color jewels seen here.
    • The Magenta Madness patterned paper is part of the 6X 6" DSP pack seen here.
