Star & Snowflake Ornaments; so pretty!

I had to give these gorgeous star projects a try!  Sara from Stampin' Up! made them for a tree topper but they were one sided.  I decided to turn her idea into ornaments by making them 2-sided.

They're made with our Stitched Stars dies seen here.  I used the largest and third smallest to make these. I used the Gingerbread & Peppermint DSP but unfortunately it was on the retired list and is sold out now.

You probably wonder where the snowflakes come from.  They are called 'Wonderful Snowflakes' and they also just sold out! The retiring list can be so hard; items you want can be gone in an instant!

You need a good stack of Dimensionals between each layer like this:

You can see why you need a smaller star inside; to support the stacks of Dimensionals. *There's a second stack under that smaller star.  You'll add a second large star on top of the dimensional stack seen above.

Tips:

  • I found a stack of 4 to work best.
  • I added a rolled up mini glue dot to the tip of each star point to secure them together.  It's not necessary but does finish if off so they stay closed.
  • Add the cord with a glue dot to one of the star points.

They were so fun to make I couldn't stop! I plan to add these to my cookie trays or to Christmas presents instead of a traditional bow.

I thought this last one would look sort of ho hum in this pattern.  But once I added our Red Rhinestones to the snowflake it sure came to life!

Below is the video to see exactly how to make these pretty ornaments.  They're the third project I share.

  • Cutest Crew card swap

    Here’s the card I made for our latest Team card swap. What do you think of the color combo?

    As you can see, I used the Cutest Crew bundle here. I’m a cat owner so I chose the cats. My colors include Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate, White and Basic Gray.

    This adorable bundle is in our Online store and was available last week but now the dies are out of stock again. I have a feeling this is how it will be for awhile. We all love our pets! You can see the Cutest Crew bundle here or the stamp set alone here. *Be sure to add your email to the product page so you get notified when it’s back in stock.

    The largest card base is Crushed Curry and the next layer is Smoky Slate which is the part that opens.

    I colored in the images with Blends markers. It was fun to color them in cat like patterns.

    Thanks for stopping in today! I hope you like my cards.

  • More Team card swaps

    Today I’m sharing the other card swaps my Team members made featuring Online Exclusive products.

    First is Karen’s card made with the Homemade Sweetness suite seen here.

    It’s a book-binding fold where the left side is adhered together and just the right part opens.

    Check out the embossed layers with the Ladybug Picnic embossing folder. It’s so neat! Unfortunately it’s out of stock right now; but it will be back. If you want it be sure to add your email to the product to be informed when it’s back.

    Next is Candy’s card made with the Cutest Crew stamp set seen here. She wanted to use the dies but they were out of stock. They came back for two days and are now out of stock again! Popular set!

    Her colors are stunning! Bubble Bath with Smoky Slate and White. She stamped the kittens on the Nested Essentials die-cut and colored them in with Smoky Slate & Bubble Bath Blends markers. The embossing folder is the Hearts of Love embossing folder.

    ~~~
    Here’s Joan’s card featuring the Splash of Sparkles specialty designer paper.
    She layered 3 different pieces of this foiled paper with Pretty in Pink before adding her greeting layer on top. Neat layout!
    ~~~

    Lastly is Jess’s card featuring the Lovely Stripes embossing folder seen here.

    The vertical strips of DSP are from the Made with Love. I like how she alternated the DSP strips with the card stock strips. This is the first swap she joined; she did a great job!

    Her greeting is from the Cutest Crew stamp set.

    That’s it for our March swaps. I hope you are inspired by their creations!

  • Check out these Team Swaps!

    The swap theme for my Flowerbug’s in March was to use our favorite Online Exclusive product. I’ll be sharing them today and Wednesday this week.

    First is a pretty card made by Jacki featuring the Sunflower 3D embossing folder seen here. It’s currently in low inventory; they sure have trouble keeping these in stock!

    She used White with Crumb Cake for a super clean look. The die-cut shape on the textured Sunflower layer is from the Branching Out dies seen here. One of my absolute favorite sets of dies I consider a ‘must have!’

    I also love how she added the wrap of Linen Thread around the greeting layer; simple but so effective!

    ~~~
    Her sister Jonna made this next card. Did they decide to both use the Sunflower 3D folder?!
    Her card is all Vanilla. Another clean & simple card; both are so elegant! I find when you use mostly one neutral color the card feels quite sophisticated. The greetings on both cards are from the recently retired Branching Out stamp set.
    ~~~

    Next is a pretty card from Kim.

    She used the pretty Floral Charm designer paper here with Early Espresso, Bubble Bath & Pecan Pie card stock. This pretty DSP will be on the retiring list in the next week or so. The beautiful leaf die-cut is from the Nature’s Symphony dies seen here. They are out of stock currently but they’ll be back! The greeting punch is our Heartfelt Hexagon punch seen here. I love this punch!

    Tomorrow I’ll share lots more of the fabulous swap cards made by my Team.
