Last of the amazing swaps by my Flowerbug’s Team; Black & White with a ‘pop’ of color!

Today's post features the rest of the Team swaps.  Our theme was Black & White with a 'POP' of color.  I love this theme so much; adding a bit of Black on a card provides a wonderful contrast to other colors and attracts the eye.

The first card was made by Candace; she used the Kite Delight stamp set along with Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green & So Saffron.  See the set here.

She stamped her background and then stamped and fussy cut the kits separately to pop them up on the card.  Her greeting is heat embossed with White embossing powder on the Black CS strip.  Beautiful!

Tammi made the next one featuring the happy color combo of Magenta Madness & a bit of Granny Apple Green.

The stamped images are from Hello Ladybug; after stamping on the die-cut scalloped circle she used the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.

The Black & White patterned paper is from the Pattern Party DSP – a host paper you can get FREE with host benefits.  Once your order goes over the $150 mark you can choose free product!  This amazing pack of paper has 40 12 X 12" sheets and is just $18. See it here.

Marilyn made this pretty card using Daffodil Delight.

She die-cut the flower 'window' from the White 'Stitched So Sweetly' die-cut (largest one in the set) to reveal the dotted designer paper underneath.  This die is from the Meadow dies seen here.  The polka dot DSP is also Pattern Party host paper.

She colored the white seam binding ribbon yellow with a Daffodil Blends marker. Her greeting is from the Sharing Sunshine stamp set.

The greeting is on a 'Stitched So Sweetly' die-cut too.  These dies are retiring!  I'm so sad; they are one of my favorite 'go to' dies for labels and layers.  See them here.

Next is a fun fold card made by Jacki using a striking pop of Red for this wedding card.

The greeting is from the Celebrating You stamp set in the Jan-June mini catalog; see it here.  Again her DSP is the host Pattern Party; can you tell we love this pack!!?  The hearts are both punches in the Annual Catalog.  They are returning in the new annual catalog.

Her measurements are:

  • Black card base 5 1/2" X 11", scored at 1 1/4", 3 3/8", 7 5/8" & 9 3/4"
  • DSP front dots – 2 pieces at 1" X 5 1/4", front hatch design – 2 pieces at 1 3/4" X 5 1/4"
  • White layers under dots – 2 pieces 1 1/8" X 5 3/8", under hatch design – 2 pieces at 1 7/8" X 5 3/8", White inside 4" X 5 1/4"
  • Black belly band 1" X 9 1/2"

Next is a Tracey's card featuring the pretty In Color of Polished Pink.

She used the Artistic dies for the beautiful Black die-cut. She stamped images from the Artistically Inked stamp set under the die-cuts for a neat watercolor look.  The stamp & dies will be returning in the new catalog but they will not be in a bundle at 10% off then.

Her White layer is textured with the Gingham embossing folder from the Jan-June mini catalog; see it here.

  • Two background techniques on this pretty Kindest Expressions card

I made this card for our June Team swap; our theme was to create our own background.  I went a bit overboard but had a ton of fun making these!

It features these products from our Annual Stampin' Up! catalog:

    1. Kindest Expressions stamp set
    2. Paper Florist dies
    3. Countryside Corners dies
    4. Blending Brushes
    5. Artistic Mix Decorative Masks
    6. Embossing paste Matte finish
    7. Adhesive-Backed sequins trio

Whew!  And I didn't even list the ink and paper!  My colors include Berry Burst, Bubble Bath, Lemon Lime Twist and Basic White.

    • I used Berry Burst ink and a Blending Brush to create an ombre background on my Bubble Bath card stock. I let that dry overnight.
    • I then used a mask over this to spread White Embossing Paste with a Palette knife.  Even though my ink was dry it picked up the color and created an ombre look on the paste too.  I let that dry for a few hours.
    • Add the greeting and the Paper Florist dies seen here.  I can tell that I'll be using these dies a lot.  They're wonderful and make a huge variety of flowers.

I LOVE how they turned out.

I'll be sharing my Flowerbug's Team swaps later this week.  Stay tuned!

  • Check out this ‘Tackle box’ with the Gone Fishing bundle! Amazing!!

Today I'm sharing the last projects Candace made with the Gone Fishing and Let's Go Fishing designer paper.  She was our Artist of the Month for June and created some incredible projects!

I was blown away by this 'tackle box' full of candy.  She told me she made it up herself!  AMAZING!!

She added gummy fish & worms, kisses, candy 'rocks' and nuggets inside.  I believe she first scored her box front then used the Gone Fishing large die to cut the windows for the front panel. Scoring first would help you center the die. Then she added the window sheet to the underside.  The window sheet holds the die-cut frame and the box front in place.

    Measurements for the box: *corrected

    • top of box 6 1/4 X 7 1/2" score 1" on all sides
    • bottom of box 6 1/8" X 7 3/8" score at 1" on all sides
    • window sheet 4 1/8" X 5 1/4"
    • left inside divider (two compartments) is 1 7/8" X 6 3/4" score at 2 3/4", 3 1/2" & 4 1/4"
    • right inside divider (three compartments) is 2 1/8" X  8 1/4" scored at 2", 2 3/4", 3 1/2", 5 1/8", 5 7/8" & 6 5/8"
    • inside bottom (under the two divided sections) 5 1/4" X 5 5/8" score at 1 7/8", 2 5/8" & 3 3/8"

To assemble this you'd add the long vertical divided piece first and then the two scored strips after that.

I made a birthday version of this box. You can watch the video here.

You can see the Gone Fishing bundle here.

This last card is another fun fold; she made lots of them in her array of cards.

It's a pocket card that could also include a gift card inside it. Be sure to note the rhinestone 'fish bubbles' on the sentiment.

I love the wavy detail she added to the inside piece; it's from the Gone Fishing dies.

    Measurements:

    • Misty Moonlight card base 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" scored at 2 3/4" & 6 3/4"
    • DSP 5 1/4" X 2 1/2" for front, bottom layer is 5 1/4" X 1"
    • Vanilla inside pull-out is 4 1/2" X 3 1/2"

And last but certainly not least is this fabulous shaker card:

It's hard to tell but the colored and stamped panel is placed in one of our clear envelopes so she could add the new Iridescent shaker circles seen here. She added Boho Blue ink to the neutral card front using a Blending Brush, then stamped the greeting and leaves. She also fussy cut the fish from the Let's Go Fishing designer series paper and added them with Dimensionals. Then came the torn card stock layer and the bobbin and linen thread.

Now she placed the entire piece inside a clear envelope, folded over the excess and secured it with adhesive. Now she added the shaker circles from the top open edge before closing it off to seal.  Add it to your card base layers and you're done!

You can see these clear envelopes here.  I use them for card swaps, storing & protecting my finished cards and of course for easy shaker cards. They're $7 for 50 envelopes!

This is such a fun card to make AND receive! It's hard to stop shaking it!

Today I'm sharing the 2nd group of cards Candace made featuring the Gone Fishing suite.  If you missed the first batch, click here to see them.

She was our Artist of the Month for June and chose this special bundle; so unique and perfect for the fishermen (and fisherwomen!).  See the Gone Fishing bundle here.

This first card is filled with layers and details – well all of them are really!

The colors include Misty Moonlight, Petal Pink and Pebbled Path.  She added Wink of Stella to the fish, and bobbin.  That fish is gorgeous. I love the wavy cut DSP at the top and her sponged sky.  And did you notice the rhinestone 'bubbles'?

Below is the inside of this card; she always adds details to her card inside layer.

Next is a fun fold card where the center panel lifts up.  It's adhered to a 5 1/2" X 4 1/4" layer.

Her colors include Pebbled Path and Misty Moonlight with a bit of Vanilla and Boho Blue.

The folded panel is 3" wide X 8" tall and scored at 4". The DSP is 5 1/4" X 4" in the back and the front panel is 2 3/4" X 3 3/4"

Next is a neat card featuring the Spiral Dye. She stamped it twice; once in Pool Party and once in Lost Lagoon.

The Stitched die-cuts are from the Stylish Shapes dies. Notice that shiny paper banner?  That is the new Holographic Trio specialty paper on page 127 of the Annual Catalog.

I'll share more of her amazing projects tomorrow.  Don't miss the next set!
