How to achieve the Floating Technique? Lots of examples!

Our current Team creative challenge for my Flowerbug's group is to make a card using the Floating Technique.  It's a fun technique that uses a window sheet or transparency.

Here are some of mine I shared on a recent Facebook Live video you can see here.

This first one features Black & White with a 'pop' of color – Magenta Madness in this case. Magenta Madness is retiring next week!

I used the Dandy Wishes dies and the Layering Circles dies here.  I adhered a bunch of strips of the All Together designer paper to a window sheet, leaving space between them.  I cut it out with the largest circle in the set and popped it up on a Gingham textured White layer.

I added die-cuts from the neat Dandy Wishes dies and a heat embossed image from the Garden Wishes stamp set. This set is in a bundle with the Dandy Wishes dies and on sale in March!  See it here.

This next card features Misty Moonlight and the Abstract Beauty DSP.  I cut the feathers from this pretty DSP that has touches of Gold on it using the Iconic dies seen here.

For this card the window sheet is a simple rectangle.  After adding the feathers I trimmed off the excess and added it to the card with mini dimensionals.

Other details:

  • the greeting die-cuts are the Amazing Thanks dies seen here.
  • The textured White layer is done with the Bark 3D embossing folder.
  • That strip of gold & white strips is also from the Abstract Beauty DSP.
  • Colors are Gold, White, Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy

Next is a card done in purples – Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather & Gorgeous Grape.

Details:

  • Layering Circle & Amazing Thanks dies
  • Greeting stamped from Special Moments SAB set
  • Texture is Hive 3D folder seen here
  • Basic Rhinestone jewels were colored purple with Blends markers

This next sample features the Artistic dies along with the SAB Simply Marbelous DSP.

Colors are Basic Gray, White & Black; very monochromatic.  The greeting is from Friendly Hello SAB set, heat embossed.

Tip; to adhere the finely cut die-cut pieces I used our Adhesive Sheets seen here.  They're the best solution for these types of die-cuts.

You can see how I achieved these cards on the link below; just click on the photo to watch.

    Paula made this cool card with the Dainty Delight bundle; she's so clever!

    Her colors are Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight & Night of Navy.

    Details:

    • She used the partial die-cut technique.  She stamped & heat embossed the flower image first and then die-cut the layered edge to match before texturing it.
    • That flowery DSP is the Regency Park paper in the 2023 Jan-April catalog.
    • The texture is from the new Cane Weave 3D embossing folder seen here.
    • Notice that little tiny daisy on the greeting banner?  That's the new Loose Daisy Embellishments seen here.  They are not adhesive-backed and can be added with a mini glue dot or a dot of glue.  Each one has a little leaf on it!

    Next is a pretty card by Karen featuring the Desert Details bundle and the Delicate Desert designer paper.

    Her colors include Gray Granite & Calypso Coral with White & Gold.  The greeting, pretty flowers and border die are all from that Desert Details bundle seen here.

    • Card base 5 1/2" X 8 1/2"
    • DSP 5 1/2" X 3 1/8"
    • Calypso Coral 5 1/2" X 3 1/2"
    • White 4 1/2" X 3/4"

    Next is a special card made by Candace using the Lucky Clover bundle.

    The Lucky Clover bundle is unfortunately out of stock and not returning. The Lucky Clover punch is now unavailable.  I'm sorry if you had your eye on it!  You can still get the Lucky Clover stamp set though.

    She used 2 different greens for her clovers – Soft Sea Foam, Soft Succulent & Evening Evergreen.  What you can't see in the photo is the scoring she did on her black background. She used the scoring board on the diagonal to add a scored texture.  So cool!

  • Happy Chinese New Year; it’s the year of the Rabbit

    Did you know that 2023 is the year of the rabbit? The sign of Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture. 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope.

    Look at this gorgeous card my team member Ginny made for a friend of hers:

    She used quite a few new products on this beauty:

    • Stamps – Decorative Borders seen here (2023 Spring Catalog)
    • Paper – Gold foil & Real Red
    • Other – Easter Bunny Punch, Red ribbon, Gold embossing powder, Heat Tool, Brushed Metallic dots

    Here's the Decorative Borders stamp set:

    You can be sure to see more of this stamp set from me in the near future!

    She cased it from a card seen online. I'm so glad she shared it with me so I could show it to you.

    Thank you Ginny!

  • Awesome Sale-a-Bration Team card swap samples

    We held our monthly Team swap and meeting this weekend.  As usual my gals created fabulous cards to share with each other.

    First is a rainbow of carrots card made by Karen.  She used the Thanks a Bunch stamp set.  It's a free choice during our Sale-a-Bration promotion; yours with any $50 purchase of Stampin' Up! products.

    Rainbow carrots are one of the fun food trends right now; she did it proud!  She used the Stamparatus to stamp her carrots, repositioning the card stock on her mat each time so the two step stamps lined up perfectly.  Genius!  I plan to share her technique soon.

    She used the new Cane Weave 3D embossing folder seen here, new Pastel Adhesive-Backed sequins, the Deckled Rectangle dies and the new Happy Labels Pick a Punch for her greeting.

    ~~~
    Ginny made this pretty card with the Beautifully Happy stamp set; also from Sale-a-Bration.
    It's a beautiful 2-step stamp set that is also distinktive; which means it gives two tones of ink on one stamping.  My favorite types of stamp hands down!
    Her colors are Fresh Freesia, Old Olive and Black. She added that soft layer of Vellum too!
    Measurements are:
    Card base 4 1/4" X 11", White – 3" X 4 1/8", Black 3 1/8" X 4 1/4" and Vellum is 3 5/8" X 4 3/4"
    ~~~

    Jane brought this cute card to share and I had to show you.  She used the Adorable Owls stamp set; another Sale-a-Bration choice that's free with a $50 purchase from now through February 28th. *see everything free here

    Can you see what is so unique about it?

    The Owl tag is loose and can be removed from the card front.  It is caught on the horizontal greeting banner that is only anchored at the outer edges.  I love this idea!  You could add a bookmark in the same way.

    Her colors are Calypso Coral with Fresh Freesia.
