How to achieve the Floating Technique? Lots of examples!

Our current Team creative challenge for my Flowerbug's group is to make a card using the Floating Technique.  It's a fun technique that uses a window sheet or transparency.

Here are some of mine I shared on a recent Facebook Live video you can see here.

This first one features Black & White with a 'pop' of color – Magenta Madness in this case. Magenta Madness is retiring next week!

I used the Dandy Wishes dies and the Layering Circles dies here.  I adhered a bunch of strips of the All Together designer paper to a window sheet, leaving space between them.  I cut it out with the largest circle in the set and popped it up on a Gingham textured White layer.

I added die-cuts from the neat Dandy Wishes dies and a heat embossed image from the Garden Wishes stamp set. This set is in a bundle with the Dandy Wishes dies and on sale in March!  See it here.

This next card features Misty Moonlight and the Abstract Beauty DSP.  I cut the feathers from this pretty DSP that has touches of Gold on it using the Iconic dies seen here.

For this card the window sheet is a simple rectangle.  After adding the feathers I trimmed off the excess and added it to the card with mini dimensionals.

Other details:

  • the greeting die-cuts are the Amazing Thanks dies seen here.
  • The textured White layer is done with the Bark 3D embossing folder.
  • That strip of gold & white strips is also from the Abstract Beauty DSP.
  • Colors are Gold, White, Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy

Next is a card done in purples – Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather & Gorgeous Grape.

Details:

  • Layering Circle & Amazing Thanks dies
  • Greeting stamped from Special Moments SAB set
  • Texture is Hive 3D folder seen here
  • Basic Rhinestone jewels were colored purple with Blends markers

This next sample features the Artistic dies along with the SAB Simply Marbelous DSP.

Colors are Basic Gray, White & Black; very monochromatic.  The greeting is from Friendly Hello SAB set, heat embossed.

Tip; to adhere the finely cut die-cut pieces I used our Adhesive Sheets seen here.  They're the best solution for these types of die-cuts.

You can see how I achieved these cards on the link below; just click on the photo to watch.

  • Lots of product displays from my New Catalog Launch party!

I held my New Catalog launch party on Saturday and today I'm sharing some of the displays I had for my customers. It was a cold day here but I still had a decent turnout. I wish I had taken photos of the food but I forgot.

This table above is my Sale-a-Bration display. I laid out the many products and projects I had to show what can be done with this year's Sale-a-Bration items.

This next view of of this same table.

Next is 3 boards featuring products from the 2025 Spring catalog.

Most of these were received from swapping with my stamping friends.

From left to right, this board features the Friends of the Ocean suite, center is the With you in Mind stamp set, upper middle is the Darling Dino, upper left is the Terrific Toadstools, lower right is the Floral Delight& Darling Wishes.

This next board features the Memorable Blooms on the lower left, the Wildflower Birthday at the top and the To the Point punch projects on the lower right.

This final board features the One More Year on the top left, Storybook Moments on the lower left, the Linked Together at the upper right and the Beautiful Butterflies on the lower right.

  • Terrific Toadstools fancy fold card

Today I'm sharing a fabulous fancy fold card Lori made for our Team Sale-a-Bration card swap.  She used the Terrific Toadstools bundle.

It's a little deceptive but it is a fun fold card; one I haven't seen before too!  Her colors include Melon Mambo, Fresh Freesia, Early Espresso and Granny Apple Green.

The Terrific Toadstools bundle from the Spring catalog coordinates with the Toadstool Gardens DSP from the Sale-a-Bration catalog. This DSP is free with any $60 purchase from Stampin' Up.

She used a bunch of NEW products; here's the list:

    • Terrific Toadstool bundle seen here
    • Toadstool Gardens 6 X 6" DSP from the  Sale-a-Bration catalog seen here
    • Spotlight on Nature dies seen here
    • Fresh Freesia seam binding ribbon (SAB catalog) seen here
    • Starstruck embossing folder on the upper flap (SAB catalog) seen here

Below you can see the gatefold and the cute flap that folds down over the front.  She created an amazing card showcasing a ton of new products here! See measurements below.

  • Corners in Bloom fun fold card

I made this card for our monthly team swap using the Corners in Bloom stamp set.

I colored the flowers in with Blends markers in Melon Mambo, Peach Pie & Granny Apple Green. The pretty greeting and die-cut are from the Mixed Labels bundle seen here.

I added the new Bloom Impressions designer paper on the left side; a free choice with a $60 order during Sale-a-Bration.

This pretty Corners in Bloom stamp set is also free during SAB (Sale-a-Bration) – with any $120 order.  There are lots of choices you can earn free through February 28th.

We haven't had many corner shaped stamps for a long time and now we have two!  I love the many options you have with these line art stamps.

My colors include Peach Pie with Melon Mambo & Black. This fun fold is called a 'Joy' fold where the two flaps overlap each other. It was perfect for this stamped frame.

If you'd like the measurements for this card here's a free project sheet. Click on this link to download or print it. Download Corners in Bloom fun fold
