How to achieve the Floating Technique? Lots of examples!

Our current Team creative challenge for my Flowerbug's group is to make a card using the Floating Technique.  It's a fun technique that uses a window sheet or transparency.

Here are some of mine I shared on a recent Facebook Live video you can see here.

This first one features Black & White with a 'pop' of color – Magenta Madness in this case. Magenta Madness is retiring next week!

I used the Dandy Wishes dies and the Layering Circles dies here.  I adhered a bunch of strips of the All Together designer paper to a window sheet, leaving space between them.  I cut it out with the largest circle in the set and popped it up on a Gingham textured White layer.

I added die-cuts from the neat Dandy Wishes dies and a heat embossed image from the Garden Wishes stamp set. This set is in a bundle with the Dandy Wishes dies and on sale in March!  See it here.

This next card features Misty Moonlight and the Abstract Beauty DSP.  I cut the feathers from this pretty DSP that has touches of Gold on it using the Iconic dies seen here.

For this card the window sheet is a simple rectangle.  After adding the feathers I trimmed off the excess and added it to the card with mini dimensionals.

Other details:

  • the greeting die-cuts are the Amazing Thanks dies seen here.
  • The textured White layer is done with the Bark 3D embossing folder.
  • That strip of gold & white strips is also from the Abstract Beauty DSP.
  • Colors are Gold, White, Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy

Next is a card done in purples – Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather & Gorgeous Grape.

Details:

  • Layering Circle & Amazing Thanks dies
  • Greeting stamped from Special Moments SAB set
  • Texture is Hive 3D folder seen here
  • Basic Rhinestone jewels were colored purple with Blends markers

This next sample features the Artistic dies along with the SAB Simply Marbelous DSP.

Colors are Basic Gray, White & Black; very monochromatic.  The greeting is from Friendly Hello SAB set, heat embossed.

Tip; to adhere the finely cut die-cut pieces I used our Adhesive Sheets seen here.  They're the best solution for these types of die-cuts.

You can see how I achieved these cards on the link below; just click on the photo to watch.

  • Calming Camelia 2 ways with video!

Today I'm hosting my Spring Launch & BOGO Bash event!  If you're local to me in Minot, ND stop in!  It's from 3-6 pm.  I guarantee it will be worth coming!  I'll have yummy treats & hot cocoa, great BOGO selection, tons of samples and door prizes too!

On one of my weekly FB Live's I played with the Calming Camelia stamp set from the new 2022 Sale-a-Bration catalog. See it here. I'm so excited it's SAB time!!

I chose a few green/blue tones to stamp the same leaf image – Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green & Just Jade.  After stamping on the 1 3/4" X 2 3/4" White pieces I added texture with the new set of embossing folders called Stripes & Splatters 3D in the new Spring catalog. See them here. I did heat emboss the greetings with White embossing powder also.

The pretty embellishments are called Faux Sea Glass Shapes. They are available here in the new 2022 Jan-June Spring catalog.

Which layout do you prefer?  Vertical or horizontal?

This pretty stamp set is free to hosts during January & February with an order over $300.  You probably think that's way too large of an order.  But there is a way around that!  Here are a few ways:

    1. Gather with a few friends and place your order together so you can earn it free. See it here.

    2. Or contact me here for a host code just for you and a few friends.  Each of you orders using the host code and the orders count together towards Host benefits.  You'll get this stamp set free AND $36 in free product as well!

You can see the video below; I share a few projects as well as some beautiful Swedish stars!

  • Abstract Beauty; my January card kit to go with a PDF tutorial option too!

I chose this gorgeous Abstract Beauty specialty designer paper for my January class kit to go because it's filled with striking colors & patterns.  I created these fun & unique cards; most of which are fun folds!

This kit to go includes all pre-cut pieces for 10 cards plus approximately $20 in Stampin' Up! product; 1/2 pkg of Abstract Beauty 4 X 6" specialty designer paper, some Just Jade & Gold ribbon & a share of Brass Butterflies. You'll get the PDF tutorial FREE (valued at $15).

The PDF tutorial is emailed to you immediately after payment from my Shopify site.  Check your spam or junk folder.

Order by January 17th. The kit to go will ship out in late January via Priority Mail.

I used the Slim Saying stamp set for my greetings.  Add it on and I'll include it with your kit at 10% off. Message me here for a PayPal invoice. Otherwise use a greeting set you already own.

I also used these inks: Just Jade, Black, Misty Moonlight, Crushed Curry, Balmy Blue & Versamark.  You will also need White embossing powder if you want to make your cards exactly like mine.

Click here to order the pre-cut kit to go.  It's the best value at $28 plus shipping.

  • Easy idea with your leftover paper strips with Artfully Layered

I had a bunch of leftover Just Jade card stock strips I was determined to use. I believe it was from a fun fold card I offered in one of my kits to go. Luckily inspiration struck and I created this neat card for an online swap I participated in.  I love it!

I used the new bundle called Artfully Layered stamping the largest leaf multiple times in Just Jade ink.  The botanical images, dies and super fun greetings in this bundle were one of my top picks from the new 2022 Jan-June Stampin' Up! catalog.  You can see this bundle here.

Each of the strips are 1" X 3 1/4" and they are adhered to a White piece measuring 3 3/4" X 5".  I adhered them so they did not match up purposefully.  You could also stamp them as shown and place them onto the card in order.

Simply add a greeting and a punch or die-cut.  I LOVE when I can use leftovers to create wonderful cards easily.

The greeting die-cut is from the Beautiful Shapes dies seen here.  They include circles, hexagons, a few odd shapes & triangles.  They're fun, modern & unique!
