What is a ‘Live Edge’ card? Check it out and the video tutorial too

You may have heard of 'Live Edge' tables; but have you ever heard of a 'live edge' card?  Well that's what I'm calling this technique!

I stamped the sweet dragonfly repeatedly along the right edge of my White card base.  I twisted the image each time and made sure they were touching or very close to each other. After stamping I fussy cut the edge off from the dragonflies. I think it took less than a minute to trim. I think it's well worth the effort!

The Happiest Day stamp set is adorable; I love the whimsical dragonflies and the bold greetings. Having two separate images for the wings means you can change up the colors for 2-toned results.  See the set here.

Here's how I stamped the inside:

Products used:

  • Happiest Day stamp set
  • Inks – Peach Pie, Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, Memento Black
  • Other – Something Fancy dies, Paper Snips, Iridescent striped ribbon, Full of Life DSP

I love the way the colors fade from top to bottom mimicking the Full of Life Designer Series Paper.  I achieved this with just 3 colors of ink, but stamping off for a few of them.

Do you ever stamp off to get a lighter hue of ink? Sometimes it's the perfect shade!

Check out the video below; I share one more unique card with an easy addition of glimmer strips and a few other ideas as well.

  • Team swaps with the Unbounded Love bundle & more

Here are a few more of our June Team card swaps.  I shared quite a few last week as well. Our theme was to use a new color along with an old favorite.

Lori made this card with Summer Splash and Berry Burst with White.

She added the Unbounded Beauty designer paper, the Deckled Rectangle dies and a Paper Butterfly Accent too.  It's also a fun fold card!

It's a Dutch Door fun fold.  Making a Dutch Door fold is so simple.  To a full quarter card base you'll add a second layer that opens from the side. Her horizontal layer is 8 1/2" X 2 3/4" scored at 4 1/4".

I like that you cannot see the inside greeting layer until you open the card. The greetings are from the Unbounded Love bundle.

Next is a monochromatic card made by Rita. She also used the Unbounded Love bundle.

Her colors include Peach Pie, Black and White. The DSP is the 2024-26 In Color 6 X 6" pack. She added embossed texture to the background.  I especially like how she added that pretty leaf die-cut frame over her stamped greeting.  A fabulous idea where you don't have to cut the greeting layer to match the die-cut exactly.

Lastly is a fun celebratory card made by Joan.

She featured the 'Light the Sky' stamp set seen here online.  I love her colors of Summer Splash with Real Red, Black & White.

  • Greetings of the Season fun fold card with video & free project sheet

I'm loving the new Season of Green & Gold suite of projects that was released in the Online Exclusives this month.  Check them all out here. There are tons of online extras that are not seen in any printed catalog.

Today's card is gorgeous if I do say so myself!  It features the new Greetings of the Season stamp & die bundle and this gorgeous Season of Green & Gold specialty designer series paper.

The card is a simple fold back with an extra layer added for the designer paper. It also has a textured layer on the left front fold as well.  Lots of great but simple additions that puts it over the top.

Look at the greeting here: The new Greetings of the Season stamp set is loaded with stand alone and builder sentiments.

The focus of my projects was the new Season of Green & Gold specialty designer paper and the new Season of Greetings stamp & die bundle seen here.

The stamp set is fabulous but look at the dies! Each one has a hole for ribbon or twine. But look at the sample above; they didn't use them at all.

I shared two versions in my video; one with a gold printed piece of DSP on the front and the other with a striped one. Which do you prefer?

There is a bundle of stamps & dies that coordinate with this designer paper but I didn't order them yet. I fussy cut the greenery & bells for my projects.

Here's a photo of this beautiful designer paper; I will be featuring it in an upcoming kit to go.

Below is the video for this card and an easy Dutch Door fold card; both using this beautiful Season of Green & Gold suite collection seen here.
