Cool technique with the Wink of Stella pen!

There are times I like to color and others that I don't. I came up with this cool technique using the Wink of Stella pen and White Craft ink to highlight my main image.

I pressed a clear block directly onto my White Craft ink pad and used that to pick up the ink with my Wink of Stella pen. You sure don't have to use a clear block but I didn't want to get Wink of Stella in my ink pad. You could use a paper plate or any other non porous surface.

I used Purple Posy, Pool Party and Seaside Spray on the cards below.

Technique tips:

  • Light colored card stock works best here; the White ink can obscure the stamped image on dark card stock.
  • Squeeze out a bit of the Wink of Stella liquid to make a small puddle to mix with the White ink for easier painting.
  • Paint the image once and go back and highlight parts of it if you want more 'lightness'.
  • Black Memento ink works fine to stamp your image
  • This should work nicely on a heat embossed image!
  • You can use the White Craft ink refill instead of an ink pad but a little drop goes a long way!

I also used Versamark to create a background effect on the card base, stamping the main image multiple times. I love how soft a Versamark background is and I don't use it near enough.  This repetitive stamping could be very busy if done in black or a darker color.

Here's the video with 3 different coloring techniques!

  • 2 more Season of Elegance & Peaceful Season cards with free project sheets & video

Yesterday I shared a gorgeous fancy fold card and today I have two more pretty cards as well.  They all feature the Season of Elegance suite.

I'll start with this one which has Basic Beige, Pretty Peacock and Gold:

I love so many things about this card – the pretty dies and that fabulous Painted Trees 3D embossing folder too.  I adhered the Season of Elegance DSP (seen here) to the Beige layer before I textured it.  A neat trick to showcase them both.

Notice the 'Merry' die-cut layers. There isn't a coordinating larger die-cut for this so I cut this in half horizontally to add a nice gold layer above and below. *watch the video here or below to see how I did it.

Here's a view of this gorgeous designer paper:

Next is a pretty card featuring the Cherry Cobbler and Gold DSP in this pack.

It also shows off the pretty die-cuts once again.  I really like the ribbon slots in three of the dies in the set. Here I used the gorgeous Cherry Cobbler/Gold satin ribbon seen here.

This Peaceful Season bundle is a big hit with many of my customers.  It has beautiful die-cuts and the greetings are wonderful as well.

I'm sure the embossing folder caught your eye as well.  It's the Forever Plaid 3D folder.  It's one of our large folders so I could place the Beige CS on an angle.

I especially like this layout as it truly does not matter what size your DSP layers are. Simple offset them from each other to form an interesting mix.

**Did you know you can get the entire Season of Elegance Suite for just $99 (regular price $154.75)?!  And shipping is free!  Add it to your Starter kit here by October 31st. An incredible deal!

Below is the video for these two cards and another neat fun fold too.  Don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel too.

  • This Season of Elegance fancy fold is extra special and has a gift card option

I shared this card on last week's FB Live video.  It's also part of my October kit to go and PDF tutorial as well.  It's unique and truly shows off our double sided designer paper!

Can you see how it opens? The left panel opens up to reveal another flap that also opens. This Cherry Cobbler layer is scored to allow a gift card to be inserted in the pocket.  If you don't need one, just adhere it down or trim it off.

  • Stunning Alpine Air cards – now discounted in October!

When I saw this new kit called Alpine Air I just knew it would be beautiful!

They're stunning and great for any occasion.  The other thing I like about these is they work for guys too which can be uncommon.  And they're so easy to assemble. It includes everything you need – a greetings stamp set, Misty Moonlight ink spot, adhesives, gems, card layers, envelopes and a clear block.

All of the kits in our Kit Collection (28 of them!) are discounted!  Click here to see all 28 kits.

This kit was $22 and is now $19.80 and you can see it here.

These beautiful cards remind me of our trip to the Grand Tetons, Wyoming last month. And also our trip to Norway last year!

Guess what!?  The Expressions of Kindness kit is back in stock!!  It's been out of stock for over a month. It's one of my very favorite kits and it's also discounted. click here to see it.
