Control Freak’s Blog Hop; Favorite Colors theme!

Welcome to the January Blog Hop from our talented Control Freaks group!  Our theme this month is to use our favorite Stampin' Up! color and make it monochromatic!

If you just stopped in from Wendy's blog I'm sure you enjoyed her projects. She is super creative!

I haven't joined a blog hop in awhile and I've missed it!  This color theme was perfect for me as my Flowerbug's Team swapped monochromatic cards last week.  I've been sharing them here all week long.

My first card features a new stamp set called Crane of Fortune.

I chose to feature Misty Moonlight with Night of Navy & White.  The Crane of Fortune stamp set is new in our Stampin' Up! January-June catalog.  It's a Distinktive stamp set which means you get multiple hues of color with one inking.  These are my favorite type of stamps.  Look how pretty the images are in one color and so easy too!

After I stamped the crane I textured it with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.

This card is a very simple fun fold.  Here are the measurements:

  • Score your 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" card base at 2 1/8" & 4 1/4"
  • Misty Moonlight layer 1 7/8" X 5 1/4"
  • White layers are 3 1/4" X 4 1/2"
  • Navy layer is 3 1/2" X 4 3/4"

I stamped some of the dragonflies on the front layer of Misty Moonlight.  I used White Craft ink for a soft, subtle effect.  As you can see I made quite a few of them for our Team swap!

Next is a pretty card in Soft Succulent & White.

I used the new Artfully Layered stamp set along with the Stitched Rectangle dies.  This technique is called Triple Time Stamping.

To achieve this layered effect I stamped all three of the White layers at the same time. Then you adhere each piece to a Soft Succulent layer and put the pieces back together; almost like a puzzle.  It's a great way to create quick, eye catching cards.

Measurements:

  • Soft Succulent – 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" card base, 4 1/8" X 2 7/8" & 3" X 1 5/8"
  • White – 5 1/4" X 4", 4" X 2 5/8" & 2 3/4" X 1 3/8"

  • NEW! Flowers of Friendship card

I created this card for a mail out swap I participated in.  I combined the new Pale Papaya with Pool Party & Black.  What do you think?

The stamp set is called Flowers of Friendship seen here.  It has a coordinating flower punch but I didn't use it here.  I did color the image in with Blends markers.

There are three new products I want to point out here:

    1. Did you notice that pretty stitched border edge?  That is done with a new set of dies called Basic Borders seen on page 162. They're amazing and stitch on both sides of the cut. #AddtoYourList
    2. See that black & white patterned paper? It's new and in the back of our catalog.  It's a hostess choice called Pattern Party.  You can only get it with Hostess Benefits when you place an order over $150.  It's a huge pack of 48 12 X 12" sheets and half are bright, colorful patterns and the other half are black & white.  I think they made this pack just for me!  It's my new favorite!!!
    3. Lastly that stitched label die-cut.  It's from the new Tailor Made Tags dies; seen on page166.  It has 8 sizes of stitched tags and reinforcements for the holes as well. Love them!!

  • More Sponging techniques from the Flowerbug’s

Here are the second set of cards made by my Flowerbug's Team for our April card swap.  The theme was to use a sponging technique:

Candace made this one using a very soft sponging on just part of the card around the Whale.  She used the Whale Done bundle here.  It's a bundle now in the current Stampin' Up! catalog and will carry over into our new 2021 Annual Catalog. But it will no longer be a bundle at 10%.  You can see it here.

She stamped and die-cut the leaves from the Forever Fern bundle seen here.

Next is a neat card made by Karen.  She used a masking technique to get that unique stamped & sponged strip across the card.

She tore a length of sticky notes and pressed onto the White card stock; on top and on bottom. She stamped and sponged on the exposed area.  Very cool! The stamp set is called Enjoy the Moment seen here.

The designer paper is from the Boho Indigo Product Medley seen here.  Her card base is Misty Moonlight.

Next card is made by Paula.  She used the Positive Thoughts stamp set seen here.  She made the sponged center of her card a beautiful centerpiece.  To get the center she die-cut a circle from another piece of paper and sponged and stamped in the center. I believe she used Pacific Point and Mint Macaron ink.

I'll share more amazing cards made by my talented Flowerbugs soon!

  • NEW project ideas & video with our fabulous 2021-23 In Colors!!!

I created three pretty cards with our new 2021-23 In Colors for yesterday's FB Live. I used three new stamp sets from the 2021 Annual Catalog. Everyone can order from it next week Tuesday, May 4th!

I cannot say it enough; I LOVE OUR NEW IN COLORS!!  They're all gorgeous, unique and will fit in with our current colors beautifully!

Here is one of the cards I made on my Live video yesterday.

This card features a few new products:

    • The stamp set is called Quite Meadow
    • Dies are Scalloped Contour for both the Scalloped rectangle & scalloped strips
    • Ink and card stock – Fresh Freesia, Soft Succulent, Pale Papaya, Evening Evergreen and Polished Pink

Here's another fun card I made with these gorgeous In Colors featuring a sponging technique:

I used the Color & Contour stamp set and all 5 In Colors as well.  I used sticky post-it notes to mask off areas as I sponged and stamped each area.  Watch the video below to catch the tips on this technique.
