Lots to see in this month’s Control Freak’s Blog hop!

If you just stopped in from Bree's blog I'm sure you enjoyed her projects. She is uber creative!

My first card features the Floating Technique. It gives the illusion that your paper is floating on the card.

I adhered random sizes of card stock strips onto a piece of Window Sheet and used our largest circle in the Layering Circles dies  to die-cut it out.  I've been making monochromatic cards lately and chose my favorite blue/green hues of Bermuda Bay, Pool Party & Coastal Cabana.  

Floating technique Save

Details:

  • This circle is added with Stampin' Dimensionals onto White CS that's been embossed with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder. 
  • The 'Thanks' is made with our Amazing Thanks dies from the January-June catalog. 
  • The 'Friend' greeting was fussy cut from the Special Moments stamp set.
  • Those pretty rhinestones are from a new release coming out in March called the Wave Collection.  Rhinestones in blues & greens!!

I recently made a card with the Hello Ladybug using Magenta Madness with Black and wanted to try it out with Coastal Cabana too. I found out that our new Supple Shimmer specialty paper works great for wings! It's pretty & iridescent.

It's also what I like to call Black & White with a 'pop' of color.  A bit of black on a card makes other colors 'show up' and be noticed. 

This card is an easy fun fold.  Turn any basic card into a fun fold with these measurements: 

  • Card base 5 ½” X 8 ½”, score at 2 1/8” & 4 ¼”
  • White (X 2) 3 ½” X 4 ¾”
  • 3 ¾” X 5” Black

  • January’s Card Kits to go; 1st is True Love black & white with pops of color!

    I was so happy when I saw the True Love designer paper in the new Spring Catalog.  I absolutely LOVE black & white prints in our papers!  I find it's the most versatile to use since you can add ANY COLOR you want to it and Black and White makes it POP!

    I chose to use the Vine Design stamp set since it's full of a wide variety of greetings and the lovely vine and floral images too.  You can add on either the stamp set or bundle at an extra 10%!  It fits in the package and costs nothing extra in shipping costs.     I used Black, Real Red and Just Jade inks. Remember you'll stamp your own images.  

    How do my kits to go work?  

    • Once you pay you'll be on the list to receive the kit. They are shipped out at the end of the month.  
    • Then you'll receive the PDF instructions in an email; immediately upon payment. It includes photos, measurements (to make more!), a supplies list and step by step directions. 
    • You'll use my measurements to cut your new designer paper for each card. Don't worry; I keep the measurements easy! 
    • You'll use the instructions and the supplies in your kit to complete the cards.

    Details:

    • I also used a new and FREE Designer Paper called Paper Blooms here.  The colors are Seaside Spray with Navy & White.  I use this pretty color combo often. 
    • Can you tell it's a fun fold?  The Seaside Spray is 3" X 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4".  I added texture with the Meadow Moments embossing folder.  The Navy layer is a quarter sheet 5 1/2" X 4 1/4". 
    • I punched a white Small Bloom punch and added a pearl to the center.  It's sponged for a bit of color.  
    • The main image is stamped and punched out with the Rectangular Postage Punch.

  • Corner Bouquet Triple Panel card & a tour of my studio & new catalog launch video

    Tuesday I held my new 2021 New Catalog Launch party and shared a virtual tour of my studio and Sale-a-Bration & Spring project displays.  I did have a little issue with a catch in my throat at the end but most of it's good.  Ha! 

    Below is a fun card showing you a way to use a large stamped image.  You can do it two different ways:

    Stamp first and then cut into three strips.  Or cut into strips, arrange together and stamp all at once.  This is what I did using my Stamparatus so I could re-stamp a few times for a nice dark image.  I've sure been using my Stamparatus a lot lately.  Do you have one?  It's so helpful!

    After I stamped the main image I let it dry a bit and then ran all three strips through the die-cutting machine to add texture.  I used a brand new 3D embossing folder called Painted Texture. 

    These colors are Purple Posy, Night of Navy & Coastal Cabana.  I was inspired to combine these colors by one of our designer paper packs in the Annual Catalog called Playing with Patterns. 

    The greeting is from the Enjoy the Moment stamp set in the new 2021 Spring Catalog.
