Coloring Techniques with the Pretty Flowers Embossing folder! With video!

Have you ever added color/ink directly onto your embossing folder?  It's actually fun and the results can be amazing!  I shared three different techniques on my weekly FB Live Tuesday.  Here's a link to it on my FB page or on YouTube here.  Or scroll below to see it here.

This first card is done by coloring on your folder with markers.  These are regular water-based markers; not Blends.  I share tips for success on this technique in the video.

Each card features the stamp set Create with Friends seen here.  I love this set! The embossing folder is called Pretty Flowers; it's my free gift for online orders over $50 in June! *see it here

I chose to use Soft Succulent on both cards adding Pale Papaya on the left and Fresh Freesia on the right.  Love our newest In Colors!!!  The greeting layer is from the Tasteful Label dies.

Next is a sponging technique.  I embossed the White CS with the folder in the die-cutting machine first.  Then used sponge daubers to color the White CS.  I highly recommend you use pastel colors for this for the best results. It's much more forgiving!

I used the Poppy dies for the greeting layer.

And the last technique is to add ink directly onto the folder itself; before you run it through.  Press your ink pad lightly to the side of the folder you want inked.  Do this lightly to avoid getting ink in the recesses of the folder.  Again; watch my video for more tips!

The pretty die-cut for the greeting is from the Potted Succulent dies seen here.

  • Easy Medallion cards with the Plenty of Patterns masks with video

I played with the Plenty of Pattern masks on last week's FB Live and here are three cards I shared.  Follow me on Facebook here.

I decided to feature some of the pretty 2021-23 In Colors.  This first card is in Fresh Freesia.

I used Blending Brushes and Fresh Freesia ink to add the medallion to the CS. The flower in the center is made with our Shimmer In Color Vellum paper & the Dandy Wishes dies seen here.

The greetings are stamped on a strip of White CS.  The edges are created with a new set of dies coming out in the 2022 Jan-June catalog called the Tropical Layer dies. It's a scalloped/stitched edge die I ran through twice.

Above is Soft Succulent with a Vellum CS flower.

Here's a photo of all 3 of them together.  Here you can see three of the four medallions in one of the masks. They're all unique and so pretty!

And next is our pretty Pale Papaya color.  The flower center is cut from White CS and the edges are curled up and sponged.

    Measurements:

    • Card base 4 1/4" X 11" scored at 5 1/2"
    • Sponged CS 3" X 4 1/4"
    • White layer 3 1/4" X 4 1/2", greeting strip 1" X 3 1/4"

Below is the video with these projects & lots more!

  • A Stunning Christmas to Remember card

The picture does not do this card justice!  It's stunning in person!

I received it from Bobby, one of my Flowerbug team members.  It's elegant in the all White & Gold colors.  She added two main layers of the large pine dies; one in white & another in Gold under it offset a bit.  Then a few layered pinecones too.

It's made with the Christmas to Remember bundle with White, Gold Foil paper, Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed dots, Gold heat embossing & Gold shimmer ribbon.  You can see this bundle here.

The dies are called Christmas Pine Cone dies and can be seen here.

  • Peaceful Cabin; beautiful!

We made this beautiful card at my December card clubs; it features the Peaceful Cabin bundle.  Unfortunately the stamp set is already sold out and unavailable. So sad; it's just gorgeous!

I used only White card stock and Misty Moonlight ink. A monochromatic card can be so simple & soothing to the eye.  And there's something about a mostly white card that is rich and elegant. It’s cased from a card made by Helen Reed

The texture on the background is made with the Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder.  That is also currently unavailable. But it is in the annual catalog and will be back.

There are two pieces that you stamp first and then die-cut.  The background trees is one layer and the cabin and foreground is another.  It's so neat how the dies cut the silhouettes out so perfectly.

    Measurements:
    White card base 5 1/2" X 8 1/2"
    White layers – for trees – 3 3/4" X 2 3/4", for cabin 2 3/4" X 5 1/4", embossed layer is 4" X 5 1/4"
