Clear Block Stamping; a fun & easy background for quick cards!

Have you ever tried Block Stamping?  If you have a clear block and ink pads you can do this!

I shared these cards on Facebook Live last week Tuesday.  You can watch the replay below.  Remember every Tuesday morning at 11 am CT I'm Live on FB here.

I chose a few different stamp sets and inks for the cards I made.  I also have a few tips for you when doing this technique.

The above card features Soft Seafoam and In The Pines stamp set.  The White layer is 4 3/4" X 3 1/2".  I inked the 'H' block in Soft Seafoam ink and spritzed it with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and Champagne Shimmer Paint.

You can use water but that takes longer to dry and I wanted a bit of shimmer. Shimmer Paint mixes well with rubbing alcohol. I added random strips of Shaded Spruce CS across the card.  Quick & easy!

This card features Calypso Coral (2" X 5 1/2"), Petal Pink and the Queen Anne's Lace stamp set. The textured layer is from the set of Wrapped in Texture embossing folders.

Can you see the marbling effect here? I inked the block in Seaside Spray ink and then added a few swirls of Misty Moonlight with a Stampin' Write marker. *Watch the video below.

I used the Snowflake Wishes set on this card and the Flowers for Every Season ribbon/twine combo pack.  The colors are Seaside Spray & Misty Moonlight.  The White layer is 3 1/2" X 4 3/4" and the Misty Moonlight is 3 3/4" square – a scrap I had.

Tips on the Clear Block Technique:

  • Use a light color of ink
  • Choose a block that fits on your card stock
  • Ink it and spritz with either water or rubbing alcohol until it almost starts to puddle.
  • Add a swirl of darker color with a marker after inking the block and before spritzing.
  • Alcohol dries faster than water
  • Add a bit of Shimmer Paint to your alcohol for additionals glitz!
  • Whisper White card stock works just fine; no need for thicker papers

  • Amazing Artist of the Month projects with the Cutest Cow bundle!

Deloris chose to feature the Cutest Cow bundle for her Artist of the Month projects. She did an incredible job showcasing this cute bundle!

First is an adorable 'barn' card. Who wouldn't love to receive this fun card?

Isn't that the best way to feature these cows!?  She cased Queen Bee Creations for this idea. I love the rooster in the window!

    Measurements:

    • Red card base 4 1/4" X 11" score at 5 1/2". Make a mark 1" inside the fold and 1" above & below the fold line on the edge. Score.
    • White inside 4" X 5 1/4" – trim off upper corners to fit the fold
    • White strips to form the barn roof are 3/8" and the door are 1/4".
    • Old Olive grass she cut into a wave shape and used her scissors to create grass

    Here's the inside view:

Next is a sunrise 'Rocker' card using Old Olive & Daffodil Delight.

The Deckled Circles are a must for these cards! See them here in our Online Store.

Here are her fun 3d projects:

For the cow tail candy wrap she used our Blueberry Bushel Glorious Gingham DSP cut with a Deckled circle die. She simply added a few score lines to the middle so it would stand up.

The Udder Stick (chapstick) holder was cased from Cards by TLC and features Berry Burst Glorious Gingham DSP.

I'll share more of her cute projects tomorrow!

As you can see with her projects, the Cutest Cow bundle is super cute!  The stamp set & punch will be sold in the new Annual Catalog coming out in May. It will not be available in a bundle at 10% off though; the items will be sold separately.

  • Latte Love Book Binding Z-fold with free project sheet

I am in love with this fun fold!  I call it a 'Book-binding' Z fold card.

This one is made with the A Little Latte designer paper seen here.  It's part of our huge bunch of Online Exclusive products.

The card starts out at 11" X 4 1/4" with two score lines (see the measurements in the free project sheet below). Then you add a second layer to the front flap to create this unique but easy fold.

I'm surprised this trendy designer paper hasn't sold out yet!

Below you can see both versions of this card we made at my March card clubs.

The coffee cups were fussy cut from the designer paper.  The stamps on the left are from the Latte Love bundle seen here.  The tag on front is from the Tailored Tags dies seen here.  I use these all of the time!

I created a free project sheet you can download or print. These project sheets are so handy to have in an idea binder or folder. Download March 24 Club A Little Latte book binding

  • Retiring items on the Last Chance list & info on discontinued items & price changes

Today I'm sharing lots of information on the upcoming Annual Catalog plus the retiring items.

The new Annual Catalog goes live on May 1st. The current Annual & Spring Catalogs retire April 30th.

These retiring items are now while supplies last. Some items are discounted but the discounts do not start until April 9th.

However I wanted you to have the list beforehand because some of these products will already be gone once the list goes live.  So now is your chance to get the items on your 'gotta have it' list.

Click here for the Annual Catalog last chance list PDF. Here's the Annual Catalog list in Excel format

Click here  for the Spring Catalog last chance list PDF.

I thought I'd mention a few items from the Annual catalog that I am surprised are retiring & will dearly miss:

    • Vanilla Envelopes & Vanilla Thick card stock
    • Vellum card stock
    • Double Oval punch – a big favorite!
    • Basic Border dies
    • Scalloped Contour dies

Please remember to grab any of the In Color items that are retiring. This set of colors was a favorite of many. These could run out of stock at any time.

We all dislike seeing price increases.  But like everything else these days some prices are going up in the new Annual Catalog. Costs are rising everywhere and Stampin' Up! has to raise there's to stay solvent. There are many companies that are struggling or closing and I'm happy to say that SU is still in good shape and in no danger of closing. I'm so glad they are proactive!

Below is a list of items where prices are increasing.  I tell you this now so you can stock up while the prices are lower.  Remember to use the host code links below when ordering.
