Baby Wipe technique and the easiest Shaker Card ever! Tips for success & Video Tutorial

This card was cased from my good friend Susie Wood; creating comes naturally to her. She's fast and super talented. See her cute card here.

I used the Tropical Leaf bundle in the Online Exclusives section of our online store. I also wanted to feature the baby wipe technique.

The colors include Parakeet Party, Bermuda Bay and a tiny bit of Granny Apple Green. The designer paper inside the clear envelope is Pretty Prints. Here's how I created the clear envelope shaker:

My Pretty Prints designer paper layer is 5 1/4" X 4" and our clear envelopes are about 1/2" larger. For the shaker elements to stay on the front side of the envelope it has to be tight and smaller. So I added tear & tape to the back edge and folded the extra over tightly. Now, insert your shaker elements on the front pocket and fold down the end flap. Wallah! You have a shaker card front!

It includes some of my favorite colors – Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral and Evening Evergreen.

The CS layers on the front are added on top of this shaker element so you still get the feel of a real card; not all slippery. Watch the video here or below to see how it's done. It's the 2nd project of 3.

Now to create the baby wipe leaves I made my own ink pad with a folded baby wipe.

Tips for success of the baby wipe technique:

Fold a baby wipe into a thick layer; at least 4 layers thick. Make your 'pad' as large as your largest stamp image. Place it on a plate.
Drop multiple drops of each color of ink refill onto the baby wipe, leaving room between colors for another color.
I recommend at least 2 colors and up to 4 at the most.
Choosing colors? Find complimentary colors in similar shades – blues/greens, yellows/oranges, oranges/pinks etc.
Choosing stamps? Solid images work best; outline images will not show off your colors well.
Ink your stamp in the new colored pad by tapping up and down in the same approximate place. Traveling while inking may muddy your colors.
Huff on the image and stamp.
Depending on how much ink you added you can use your new 'ink pad' multiple times. Add more ink drops as needed.

Gorgeous Notes of Nature card with free project sheet & video tutorial

I had no idea I would enjoy creating with the Nature's Sweetness suite as much as I did. It's not my usual style but I'm in love with it all!

Here's one of the cards I shared on last week's video:

I used the Notes of Nature bundle and Old Olive, Black and gold accents on this card. The large white layer is made by stamping a few of the background stamps in Black ink. I added two sets of leaves – one in green and 2 the other in the Gold designer paper.

I want to mention what I think puts this card over the top. Of course the gold additions attract your eye but I think repeating colors a few times helps a lot. Notice how the black is repeated, the Olive is and so is the Gold. If you have trouble with color combinations, try adding one color with a neutral or two. Such as Black & White with any color.

More Details:
- I textured the Olive layer with the Exposed Brick embossing folder and used a Blending Brush to add Old Olive ink to it. This really highlights the texture!
- Also notice the small strip of Gold designer paper on the top and bottom of the stamped white layer. This is the Nature's Sweetness specialty paper.
- I added gold sequins and gold Elegant trim near the greeting.

The Lovely Lavender Paper Pumpkin kit is stunning! *get a pre-paid subscription & earn free SAB choices!

I received my January Paper Pumpkin kit yesterday and for the first time ever, I sat down and finished the entire kit! Here are my cards.

The original kit makes 8 cards and 4 tags. I added 4 card bases and a few extra coordinating cardstock strips and ended up with 12 cards! They released the add on kit for the Lovely Lavender card kit today; it's just $11.50 and you can see it here. It comes with everything but the stamp set & ink spot!

*I love these cards so much I'm featuring the add-on kit in a card kit to go in February!

Here's another alternative idea I made with the kit:

I used our Deckled Circle dies and the new Love of Spring 'add-on' dies for Paper Pumpkin subscribers. The 'love' and the label die-cut are from these dies! These dies can be seen here and are just $12.

I textured the white circle with the Exposed Brick embossing folder and added a 3/4" Garden Green strip to the Highland Heather card base. The twine is from the kit and the gems are our new Fine Shimmer Purple gems.
